[Arbor] Software/plugin to Mark Lates in Arbor?

Looking for something that can in some way mark students as late in Arbor who sign in late.

 

I'm *fairly* sure no feature exists within Arbor to achieve this, but thought I'd see if the collective knew of anything 3rd party that might!

Unfortunately, SignInApp writes attendance marks to SIMS but not Arbor. They say it is because it isn't supported by the Wonde-Arbor integration. I really wish they did have this functionality and hope it comes soon.

Thanks both. Yes SignInApp was the thing that worked previously when we had SIMS, now Arbor move and ofc not got that anymore.

 

Arbor say they are working on it and it'll be available sometime, just wondered if anything was out there that filled the gap for now.

Does Inventry support this with their sign in app? Never used them, but they are listed as a partner on the Arbor site which should mean they directly integrate, rather than via Wonde or another third party.

This is writeback to your MIS from a sign in system, so if they mark themselves as late when they arrive on the system it'll write back.

This is what organisations like Becta should've been for. Creating standards like APIs that schools/suppliers could all work with.

We had the same issue yesterday. Arbor are testing with a few sites at the moment, we are one of those sites after half term so I imagine it's going to be available pretty soon.

Inventry does write back to Arbor, so if your registration period is from 8:45 to 9:00 but your statutory session runs until 9:30 then if a student signs in at 9:20 then they will be absent for the registration session but be marked L for the statutory roll call session.

Yep you can. It's more that the staff are unhappy doing it manually where we had something prior that would automatically assign late students a late mark when signing in.

...that's magic thanks for that. Glad to know it's potentially on the way! Colleague emailed them and asked but they didn't want to commit to a timeframe specifically. Good to know it's in the works.

LiveRegister does this for one of our schools.

 

We have a box at reception where the SLT stands from 8:30 to 8:45. Anyone at that time scans their RFID badge or fingerprint and it registers them as late. After that time it just works for staff in/out and anyone later than that should be going to the attendance office.

Having coded up something to do club registers onto Arbor, it is one of the harder things to integrate on Arbor. You can't just write a record to their DB via the API, you have to use either their .NET or PHP sdk as that automates the "opening" and "closing" of the register which is needed for Arbor's backend.

Got the info secondhand but the text of part of the reply was:

 

I am afraid Arbour does not support the writeback feature, this is a limitation with Arbour i am afraid, however this is something that Arbour is working on however we do not have any timeframes or additional information on this at present

 

Also kudos writing your own solution! Beyond me for sure.

Yes InVentry supports this, you can specify what mark you want depending in the sign in time frame too.

So just a quick update nearly a year later. They've (Sign In App) announced that this is coming very soon in a recent newsletter. When I asked to be included in the Beta trial they accepted but I've heard nothing since.

 

Hopefully not long to wait now though, obviously Wonde will need write-back permissions...

So just a quick update nearly a year later. They've (Sign In App) announced that this is coming very soon in a recent newsletter. When I asked to be included in the Beta trial they accepted but I've heard nothing since.

 

Hopefully not long to wait now though, obviously Wonde will need write-back permissions...

 

They had to suspend the Beta due to some issues between Wonde and Arbor but are aiming to restart this quite soon.
