New Firewall & Filter with MFA for RDP

Our aged Dell Sonicwall (purchased in 2014!!!) is well beyond it's usefulness, and near on useless for reporting unless we purchase Fastvue reporter.

 

Any thoughts on what is a good Firewall with a decent filter and educational reporting. We also use RDP for staff and would need a MFA solution for a limited number, possibly as a bolt on

 

Before everyone suggests Smoothwall, firstly it doesn't have MFA for RDP, so would have to purchase an extra solution, and is it really as good as the sales team say it is (TBH the demo was pretty good!)?

 

Current thoughts are Smoothwall, Watchguard (waiting on prices) and Fortinet.

We have Sophos XG with Fastvue (previously had SonicWall NSA with Fastvue) - also supports MFA for Console Access and SSL VPN etc.

I can recommend Palo Alto, been running them both here and at my previous school. In terms of MFA for RDP I just have a server running the Microsoft add on.

Morning @Wirral_Wonderer we're a Fortinet house so naturally would recommend their solution.

 

Forticloud comes FOC with the Fortinet devices we sell as we're an accredited Fortinet MSSP.

 

We also have a hosted version of the advanced analytics package FortiAnalyzer which gives you a huge amount of reporting power. So you can buy an onsite box and then export all of your logs to this service.

 

Finally if you are also looking at connectivity we also have our virtualised Fortigate appliance which sits in the cloud in front of our connectivity and is extremely cost effective and can be spun up straight away.

The Fortigate is a good option to look at. Can use the built in tools with out paying extra to do web portal for RDP or creating user policies.

We recently move to sophos Xg great device. Sophos have really come on over the years and have a better focus on education.
