New MFD/Copiers - what are your thoughts on these devices.......

We had Sharp (6050s) in shared areas (so used by staff and pupils, on PaperCut) and Toshiba in reprographics. Both are decent enough (despite the former supplier slating them for not being "tier 1" when they realised they were losing). I think I prefer the Sharp.

We had this. One supplier even slated the Sharp casing, saying cleaners didn't like it as the rough surface held dust!!

Hahah wow. That company wasn't in with a chance anyway as they lied on previous contracts and were just awful. "They won't last 5 minutes in your environment" they were about 3 years old when I left the school and still going strong, lasting a lot better than the previous Lexmark and Canon kit they had put in. Specifically the 6050s we had, I liked that they would pop the toner out slightly when it was due a change, there was no way to pull it out until the machine wanted it doing. Old copiers were always a complete mess inside the toner door as people were constantly messing with them, the Sharp kit stayed clean.

Just jumping in on this thread ... would anyone have contact details for Sharp they would like to share please? I don't think they are on the CCS Framework unless I'm looking in the wrong place?

Thanks

Look for Sharp Business Systems at Wakefield.

Have a look for Sharp dealers too as depending on the size of them can do better deals that Sharp direct! Also note that even if you do deal with Sharp direct you may end up been serviced by a dealer in the area so might be worth seeing who is near to you.

We had Toshiba's for a while and not too many complaints with them, moved to Xerox end of last year and it's not been the best experience...

Anyone else with Xerox and having issues with Toner supply? Twice in 3 months where we've been waiting weeks for Toner delivery.

Two different schools with Kyocera and they were always breaking and then had issues getting parts and spare toner - happy to be getting rid!

Switching over to Canon and before Kyocera we used Ricoh which were pretty reliable (saw Danwood mentioned which brings back memories haha)

we use the Kyocera TASKalfa range, they're solid printers and if you have a support contract with kyocera the support engineers are great, usually out on the same day/next day after reporting any errors

We're with AltoDigital, who supplied Xerox devices. We did have an issue with supply, but after kicking up a stink a few times we now don't. However we get a lot of engineers who "haven't been trained on this device yet" (we literally had one where we had to show him where the staples go as he couldn't figure it out) and get a lot of "Oh that's a software issue so I can't do that". We were direct with Sharp before and honestly wish we'd stayed there. We had a few toner supply issues with them too, but the engineers knew everything about all of our printers whether it was hardware, software, tupperware, Weston-super-Mare or anything!
