Afternoon all,

Regardless of MIS used, do your pupil records include their school email address?

This is separate to parent/carer contact details!

Say a school subscribes to a third party service, then this information is exported to them via Groupcall/Wonde for example.

Would I be right in saying everyone who has voted Yes are all Secondary schools?

Yes. Their email address is used as their username for Google Workspace and we export data to various systems that need username / email address information. Note that our pupils mostly can't actually send / recive emails - their email inbox isn't turned on until Year 5, and after that there's a whitelist of domains they can send / receive emails to/from.

We are a prep. Very similar to dhicks. Younger students have an email address but no mailbox or license to mail. All of ours have external email blocked unless the domain or email is in a whitelist.

Yes, we did and it was an all-though school so from Reception to Yr13. We were a fully Google School and used a variety of third party apps where the email address fed in to account creation. If anyone saw my earlier, now deleted posts, it reminded me I would not include it in CTFs when passing to another school - I saw no logic in that!

Yup, set as the student work email address in SIMS so they sync correctly with third-party systems (GCSEPod, ShowMyHomework, etc) for SSO via Azure AD.

The email addresses are written into SIMS from local AD using Salamander.

Just finished uploading mine. Always some third party services that ask for it instead of a connector, you know how education sector goes!

We do the same here and we have a mail flow rule that only allows email to students from a hand full of senders.

Yes, Primary here... Even though the address cannot be used for emailing, it is still their login for workspace and a host of other Google SSO enabled sites.

Yep - provides an easy way to export the information if necessary (e.g. 3rd party service that links in with Bromcom), shows to parents on the parent apps etc.
