Sonic007 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Will anyone be buying the latest Apple gadgets? I was finally planning of upgrading my old iPhone to an iPhone 12 Pro hoping it would go down in price now the 13 is out but it looks like it has been completly axed. I'm guessing the changes are so little this year that removing the 12 Pro makes it look like a bit more of a jump in features. So it looks like I'll be having to stump for the 13 Pro instead. Would have been nice to see a few more features..... It isnt a ground breaking improvement to the last model really. Wht do you think?
supportman Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 I think its a great iteration on the old model. Nothing wrong with gradual progress... Personally I tend to upgrade every 5 years with my iPhones so it be soon I get a new one as I am still on an XR which is still great 1
FN-GM Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 I have an iPhone 11 and will be sticking with it. The iPad Mini tuned my head. I have been thinking about an iPad for a little while so will be keen to see the reviews.
Cat_Jam148 Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 I think the 120HZ screen on the 13 Pro will be a bigger improvement than most people think. I've been using an S21 Ultra, which also has a 120HZ screen, and everything feels so fluid and smooth! With how polished Apple's user interface is, it should 'feel' even smoother. I do think I'll finally jump ship from Android to iOS and go for the 13 Pro Max as I feel Android, especially Samsung, have stagnated a little with the past 4 or so generations. Plus, I haven't had an iPhone since the 3GS and feeling quite excited about jumping back into the ecosystem, although my wallet may not be so pleased. 2
Sonic007 Posted September 15, 2021 Author Posted September 15, 2021 Yes I'm very keen to upgrade my 8, it is just quite an expensive spend! Think I'll wait until Christmas. Definately wanting the Pro though as have been wanting a larger screen and better cameras.
DalekSec Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 Currently have an XS Max, my plan is to upgrade once the notch is fully gone! Paid off the phone now so only paying for the contract.
Norphy Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 (edited) Generally speaking, I tend to buy a new iPhone when Apple stop releasing operating system updates for the one I've got. I get the current model to stick with the phone as long as possible. With this iPhone 7, this has turned out to be a bit more difficult as they keep on supporting older models! I've had this iPhone 7 for five-ish years and iOS 15 is going to be supported on it. However, battery life on it has gone in the toilet and an iPhone 13 Mini is looking tempting right now. My progression has been: 3GS in 2009 5 in 2012 7 in 2016 13 in 2021/2022 maybe? Edited September 15, 2021 by Norphy 2
flyinghaggis Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 (edited) After buying an iPhone 3G then 4S I switched to Android after that (Nexus 5X). I've had OnePlus 5 since 2017 but it's stopped receiving updates so will probably upgrade this year. I'm mulling over going back to IOS however as there aren't any Android phones that tempt me at the moment. Probably gonna go for an iPhone 13 or 13 Mini Edited September 16, 2021 by flyinghaggis 2
psydii Posted September 16, 2021 Posted September 16, 2021 (edited) No, but I'm going to try to persuade the other half to get the Pro. She's the photographer of the household and we have some milestones coming up, so it would be nice to get the best photos possible (without breaking out the DSLR). Our phones are almost 4 years old at this point so I'm probably upgrading before we get to iPhone 15. Edited September 16, 2021 by psydii 1
Arthur Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 The iPad Mini tuned my head. I have been thinking about an iPad for a little while so will be keen to see the reviews. The 5G iPad mini is almost a better iPhone than the iPhone. No notch, it's significantly cheaper (£390 less than the 256GB iPhone 13 Pro Max), works with the Apple Pencil and has USB-C! It also is crazy that Apple still hasn't added USB-C to the iPhone Pros. Imagine buying the most expensive 1TB model and then transferring massive ProRes videos at the USB 2.0 speeds of the Lightning port. It would take over 11 hours to transfer 1TB! 1
ICTDirect_Dave Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 It also is crazy that Apple still hasn't added USB-C to the iPhone Pros. Imagine buying the most expensive 1TB model and then transferring massive ProRes videos at the USB 2.0 speeds of the Lightning port. It would take over 11 hours to transfer 1TB! If USB-C was as tough and thin as lightning then I'm sure they would the lightning port is more durable (failure points opn the cable and nor the port itself) and can take advantage of USB-C charge speeds. It's just the outdated data transfer speeds that let it down. The fact that they use it on their laptops shows that they like it, but consider it not as suitable for phones as the lightning connector. However, Apple would rather people not transfer data over a wired connection these days. Everything is heading wireless and connection speeds are getting seriously fast! With the iPhone constantly saving data to the cloud (providing you've got an unlimited data plan!) it should be waiting for you in your iCloud drive when you're ready to move to a PC/Mac to work. As for if they'll swap to another connector. I think not. We're more likely to see them drop the port entirely, going to wireless only charging data transfer. Personally I like that. I've not plugged my phone in to move any data in years now. Will I upgrade? I'm not sure. I've an iPhone 11 and my contract is up in november. I got a cracking deal on it a couple of years ago during the black friday week. if another great dela comes along then I might bite. If not, I'll be perfectly happy with the 11. It's by far the best Phone I've owned. 1

I take a lot of photos and the camera is very important to me.
Zoom7000 Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Yes, I will, but not until the refurb iPhone 13 Pro Max is available on the refurb market via Music Magpie or Cheapest Electricals. So, it won't be a few months yet. However, my brother picked up the iPhone 12 Pro Max for £750 just a few months ago, which is a super bargain!
mrstrong Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 any bikers on here ? https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-58507764
GrumbleDook Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 If the right deal comes along, but I'm in no hurry. I'm happy with my XR, have an SE for my other bits and pieces, and the rest of the family are on SEs too.
foofighterjim Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 I'm looking at the iPhone 11 or 12 mini as they've had good price reductions now, leaning towards the 12 mini simply for the 5G. In either event, it'll be some upgrade on my Pixel 2!
Popular Post Norphy Posted September 17, 2021 Popular Post Posted September 17, 2021 No, I will never buy an iPhone. Next... Cool story bro. Glad you could share. 5
Steve21 Posted September 17, 2021 Posted September 17, 2021 Will be! Finally upgrade my 6 plus that’s on its last legs
Roberto Posted September 18, 2021 Posted September 18, 2021 Just ordered a 13 Pro today as an upgrade from my 11. My 11 will almost certainly be going to my partner as an upgrade to her iPhone 8, which we’ll probably trade in. I do tend to upgrade every 2 years. 2
ZFarnworth_geek Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Yes been groping at it persuading the boss to allow me to get the iPhone 13, I would so love to get my hands on it 🤤
XiJ Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Got my 13 at the weekend. It’s blue and lovely. Got a clear case but would love to be caseless. Apple have done wonders with the migration from one phone to another. My 11 transferred everything flawlessly to the new 13. And the daughter gets my old 11 for her birthday. Lucky girl. Son Won’t be pleased as he’s still using my wife’s old XR [emoji3]
Jcx500 Posted September 27, 2021 Posted September 27, 2021 Thinking of getting a 13 currently got an 11. Really tempted to get a Galaxy flip tho .
Sonic007 Posted September 28, 2021 Author Posted September 28, 2021 Decisions, Decisions...... Do I go for the Sierra Blue or the Graphite as I normally always do? I do like the blue...Is it too girly? Hmmm, What dyou think?
