TMBS Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 (edited) Hi We have a Windows Server 2019 SIMS server which we have been having connection/transfer issues with Groupcall Xporter and Wonde. They both blame it on the filtering but the server is unfiltered and all required ports opened by Schools Broadband. Yesterday Groupcall made some changes which allowed data to be transferred to SMHW but they said that they are still not receiving a heartbeat and something is still being blocked, the error given is: So they're now saying it's TLS issue and we need to get our SIMS support to check that TLS is allowed. Wonde then tried to install their software on the SIMS server yesterday and had the same issue with the data not transferring. I feel like a pig in the middle with everyone blaming everyone else and no on actually doing anything. How can I check that TLS is working/enabled on the server? It's ticked in Internet Options but that's about all I know... Thanks for any help! Edited September 10, 2021 by TMBS
coolhands Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 cant see anything where you say "the error given is:" did you mean to add an attachement? (not that I can help, I don't know)
TMBS Posted September 10, 2021 Author Posted September 10, 2021 cant see anything where you say "the error given is:" did you mean to add an attachement? (not that I can help, I don't know) Thanks for letting me know! I'd pasted it in which shows for me but obviously not anyone else! I've attached it now but the error is: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationships for the SSL/TLS secure channel
ITJS2015 Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 I have just recently had an issue with XPorter software communicating with a 3rd Party called CPoms. Basically to cut a long story short the connect.ini had not been updated in the xporter folder. I would recommend you double checking that first.
Michael Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Two things to try - Reset IE to defaults on the Advanced tab. Make sure the correct proxy (if applicable) is set within IE and Groupcall xPorter for example. Ensure TLS 1.2 isn't enforced in the registry I've seen this seriously interfere with Groupcall in the past. Looking through my old emails, I found this - Open Group Policy - Computer Config > Policies > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options > System Cryptography: Use FIPS Compliant (enabled) or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurityProviders\SCHANNEL\Protocols Remove any keys which read TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1 and TLS 1.2. Always backup any registry settings first!!
mthomas08 Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Very weird problems. We recently installed a new server for SIMs and the Xporter installation with Wonde all went fine. Didn't have to make any registry changes but made sure everything was installed that SIMs needed (all those little tick boxes add roles/features etc). We had firewall issues but that caused a problem with the deployment of SIMs. Our other exporters like EduLink work fine.
webbobfc Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 We have had issue at my school this week with Wonde and xporter not working for classcharts and cpoms. Wonde advised to give the server a reboot (didn't say why) which we did and it did solve the issue, and Cpoms made a change their end and it seemed to kick into gear. All seems related to the Sims summer update to me. Have you rebooted your Sims server since the summer update?
round2it Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 hi guys our support company give me a script to start all the 3rd party apps when udating sims stop batch file NET STOP GCEmerge NET STOP GroupcallSimsServer NET STOP GCExporter NET STOP Keep Kids Safe NET STOP AssemblyConnector NET STOP AssemblyUpdater NET STOP BromcomVisionSIMSConnector NET STOP DEService NET STOP DEMonitor NET STOP "InVentry Service Monitor" NET STOP "InVentry SIMS Connect API" NET STOP SimsAutoLinkReportExporterSvc NET STOP ESMISSync and another batch file to start them NET START GCEmerge NET START GroupcallSimsServer NET START GCExporter NET START Keep Kids Safe NET START AssemblyConnector NET START AssemblyUpdater NET START BromcomVisionSIMSConnector NET START DEService NET START DEMonitor NET START "InVentry Service Monitor" NET START "InVentry SIMS Connect API" NET START SimsAutoLinkReportExporterSvc they recommend stopping all the other services while updating sims, never had an issue before but i did with the summer upgrade this time starting and stopping the services fixed the issue if you dont use any of the services listed the batch will still run 1
ITJS2015 Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Its a well known issue with updating sims which causes issues with CPOMS and Wonde. Its the only current fix by restarting you servers straight after your upgrade or after hours. I have been doing it for a while and its just remembering to do it. 1
highsky Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 Just checking, you had an old sims server and moved everything to a new one - IP address? If so can you verify that they replicated the firewall rules? Do you use a proxy? has this been added to the app configs? if you login as the local admin do you have the proxy applied? If not check them services, if they work its firewall.
round2it Posted September 10, 2021 Posted September 10, 2021 sims service manager check that to see if it is using a proxy
PotNoodleTech Posted September 15, 2021 Posted September 15, 2021 (edited) How do you actually see if Wonde is transferring or not? I can't see anything on Wonde data transfer tool, or in the Wonde web interface either. Can see groupcall tasks and if they runn easy enough - and they appear to not be running successfully. Thanks Edited September 15, 2021 by PotNoodleTech
