Its amazing, the drive up to the school is just breathtaking, well maybe not quite but near enough!

Most independent schools seem to pay pants though :( We shall see

Good Luck as well Nick

I am not currently in the field of education.

But I was 2/11 at my last interview and would have been "a close second" if they hadn't had someone more experienced at the interview before that,. Both at secondary schools.

I will be looking at a pay cut wherever I go because I get stupid amounts of money for being on call every other week at present.

Taken from the pack sat on my desk that arrived today:

"The successful candidate will be generously remunerated and a fee remission scheme is available should the successful candidate wish to educate his/her children at Stonyhurst College or Stonyhurst St Marys Hall."

Thats is very common on Independent school jobs stuff, seen it on a good few packs I've had and roles in them, you could read it two ways either they will offer you the lowest they think possible and you work it out or they will give you a good remission. Its worth bearing in mind if you have children that the fee remission can be worth many thousands a term depending on the schools fees so you do have to factor that into it.

Got the pack today. Blooming Nora. It is about half a tree thick. Page after page of nonsense.

It asks for 2 referees which is fine but says the 2nd one should be from where you've worked with kids... which I haven't.

Any ideas?

Yup they are, rememeber they are good marketing tools for schools, without the children these places don't exist, so sell themselves well in these packs and hope you will send your kids to them even without the job. (I'm speaking from being on the independent side already so I know how much attention is paid to giving stuff out to our applicants etc)

As for your issue, no idea at all, sorry
