75inch non-interactive screens

Hi all, just wondered if anyone had had an 75inch non-interactive screens fitted recently. We're looking at putting them into some meeting rooms that will see pretty heavy use so wanted to stay away from consumer-grade TVs.

 

Just wondering what models people were happy with and indicative prices paid.

Hi, Clevertouch, SMART boards, and Promethean are good in education. Size range from 65" up to 86". both interactive and non-interactive available.

We've previously fitted Viewsonic CDE7500 as they were decently priced at around £1200 ex VAT, but the prices of these have gone up recently.

 

We recently fitted a SMART Board 2075 (75", 4K, non interactive) screen. Price was £1145 ex VAT but it doesn't come with a wall mount so we got the CHIEF LSA1U mount (~£90) to go with it.

It's the first non-interactive SMART Board we've had and we have no complaints. Only been installed a couple of weeks so can't give any long term review on it though!

Just putting this out there - I've used plenty of "consumer" grade TVs with no issues. And last purchase was a 75" for just under £700... hard to say no really!

Same here. We've purchased a lot of consumer TVs for classrooms to use as the main display. I've had lots of suppliers always try to tell me that they aren't suitable for enterprise use and aren't made to be switched on for all hours of the day, but in truth, I've never had any problems. In fact, I've had less problems with the LG, Hisense and Samsung TVs I've purchased, compared to the Promethean and Clevertouch screens that we have.

 

Let's face it, we just through a year of lockdowns and I'm pretty sure millions of consumer TVs were on every day for much longer than your average ("6 hour") school day!

Recently bought a 75" LG TV from Richer Sounds (with the free upgrade to six years warranty) for the Headteacher's office - works brilliantly. Had to buy through the store rather than the business team to get the additional warranty, without VAT it worked out at around £600.

 

Looking at the use of MiraCast with Windows10 and tablets to allow interactivity where needed, as we can do this with a tablet and an added WiFi NIC (which saves massively from the cost of a fully interactive screen, and allows staff the flexibility to move around the room).

my Newline RS 75" interactive was only £1175 so it wasn't much more than a non-interactive and non-domestic display anyway. it comes with a 5 year on-site warranty as well.

I have replaced with toshiba 65" consumer grade and they have been rock solid for 8 months so far no issues, promethean panels have been a bit flaky . look if the toshiba goes i can replace 3 times in each room for the price of one promethean.

We did it by getting the business manager to buy it on the credit card, and the store were very willing to help. I think it depends upon the store to be honest with you.

I suspect that the terms of the warranty specify how it who uses it, target than who paid the supplier for it. Equally if there was a problem and the original purchaser took it back to the store it would be difficult to prove.

 

If you buy 10 in one go and put a school security mark on it, it probably won't work though.

While I agree consumer grade TVs can work in schools, I have been using them in classrooms for a number of years now, be prepared for things like this.

I was advised to take the TV home and then make the claim!
