I just wished that they supported 2 way MIS write back. Until then, it's a non starter for my Trust :(

I thought it did? Quote from their website:

Automatically handle late arrivals and early leavers with integration write backs on select MIS systems. Collect additional data such as reasons for being late, checking if pupils will be returning later in the day and notifying any staff members who should be aware. Contact us for more information on which systems we currently support.

That would be good. I've not gone with MIS sync at all. It pulls staff from Google, that's all I need.

I know that it doesn't support Arbor, at least that's what their Twitter admin told me...

Maybe the Arbor team (@Arbor_Daniel, @Arbor_Maddie or @Arbor_Matt) could confirm?

This is on their website (https://signinapp.com/education/integration):

Shows Arbor on the list? Just costs a bit extra to have that integration.

I'm just setting it up for the Primary School at the moment, but there not requiring the MIS integration as it's purely visitors only at this stage. I'm quite impressed by it as is and am tempted to get it for the main school I work at.

Yes, but I think that list means there is at least a 1 way sync, not necessarily 2 way...

As an alternative to RFID tags on cards, you can also use QR codes on SignInApp. Works well for us. (Even though we ended up with RFID cards in the end anyway for Paxton gates...)

Does state quite clearly that they use Wonde to sync data from your MIS, and it also says it writes back on selected MIS systems. So, guess need to find out which ones it does write back for. I'm going to arrange a trial for our place and go from there.

What about subdermal NFC tags? Can we use those, so staff can't lose them or have them nicked? :troll:

(I jest.. But I do genuinely want one lol)

Yes, but I'm pushing staff use the mobile app instead.

We have gone for this across our trust- all arrived this morning! Using the Azure integration instead of the MIS though.

Have used a few different systems across other schools ive worked in and found this one very impressive for the price!

We are using RFID tags that we got off ebay as we already use them for our photocopiers. Sent one away for them to test and they were able to confirm all would work.

@kidpressingbuttons - We looked at the Azure integration but did not like the permissions requested at all! Particularly this, so was particularly concerned what data they have access to:

Read all groups

Allows the app to list groups, and to read their properties and all group memberships on your behalf. Also allows the app to read calendar, conversations, files, and other group content for all groups you can access.

Considering it requires, I believe, an admin type account to approve the link, I thought this was pretty significant! May be I have read this wrong, or there is a secure way to just share groups and members, but the wording of that did ring alarm bells!

Should add that the above is clearly a limitation of the Microsoft permission structure and in no way reflects on the product itself! We started using it here about 3 months ago and it has been brilliant!

We Use Inventry. Like most software built for schools it's quite poorly made, has plenty of bugs and isn't of a standard I'd expect in a corporate environment! However it does the job!

yet SignInApp, eReception and a couple of others I trialled provide more functionality, quicker to adapt and add features and generally make a far better first impression on the school - but school leaders are happy to pay over the odds and stick with what they know! It's the MIS saga all over again :D

We've placed a few extra signinapp terminals around the school for staff to use and also encourage use of the companion app, I've just enabled auto sign in as its now pretty reliable. Getting them all to sign in reliably wasn't too bad but getting them to sign out has been impossible.

Hi there,

I can confirm that Arbor has a 'one-way' integration with Sign In App which means that data you update in Arbor updates in Sign In automatically. However any data you update in Sign In doesn't write back into Arbor.

Arbor does however have 'two-way' integrations with EntrySign and Inventry.

Hope that helps. If you want to find out more about Arbor, feel free to get in touch!

I have been watching this thread with interest. A few of my school have Inventry and it's outdated and always seems to cost a fortune to add anything. "Sign In App" seems amazingly good value and looks like it was actually made this century as well. I look after primary schools so the costs seem really low as well. What are the downsides? What am I missing out on that Inventry gives us?
