We've had around 7 or 8 out of 45 where the screen has failed, always in the top left hand corner. The devices don't look damaged so we logged a warranty claim as we stated we believe the design of the device isn't sturdy enough or there must be a fault with the screens used and the supplier has agreed to swap them out.

I've also found a local repair shop who can change the screen for £50 (supplied and fitted) which is cheaper than I can get the screen for so it may be worth checking with local repair shops to see what they charge.

Has anybody found a screen for the 40Pin model NT116WHM-A22. I believe its touchscreen but if theres a non 40pin touchscreen out there thats compatable that will do.

I don't know what difference the last three digits make to compatibility but Accupart have an NT116WHM-N10 which specifies 40 pin in the description. You could try contacting them to see if they can confirm.

No disrespect to anyone but the only screen I would trust are the ones from PSA that Danny can get, I've never heard of Chi Mi or Innolux but have been using PSA (AKA 2-Power) power adaptors for years from Danny and they're brilliant.

We have been using Innolux for all of our replacement Lenovo Chromebook screens, never had any issues with them. Pretty sure they provide OEM for Lenovo also.

Good to know - having never heard of a brand before you never know if it's good or not.

So we have had about 9 Faulty so far (powers up - just black screen ) - council chaps replaced a batch of 4 with the E10 Model (more sturdy!) and gave NO REASON WHY???. Anyway now got in touch direct to get the other 4 swapped - sometimes discharge does the trick.. but staff and pretty pissed when they get nowhere!. 1 is a damaged screen appreciated the Ebay info above

I've not got a 'supply' of working screens that I can use to replace the ones where the backlight has failed - they're from the ones that the keyboards and USB ports have stopped working on!!! #SparesAndRepairs

Interesting the 40-pin model is actually a touchscreen from checking up specs.. maybe that might be causing the backlight issue since there is no touch on these??, so XMA (Notts) basically bring them back in, swap with E10 model and send these back to mfg to get sorted

Fazza, they should still be in warranty right?

Tried and it's like pulling teeth and just wastes our time trying to get through to them. Complete an utter waste of tax-payers money as the support is as rubbish as the laptop quality in our experience.

I have one of the 40pin screens to repair with no side bracket just taped to the back cover do they use the same motherboards as I have another 1e with a good 30pin screen if the motherboards are the same the cable must just have extra unused pins for the touch so I should be able to swap the cables with the screen if the motherboards are the same. looking at this 40pin screen the touch isn't used it doesn't respond which makes me think the 40pin cable is only used because they had a supply of that screen

That's right it is no touch with a touchscreen!. The problem is the touch 40-pin with be 2 connectors on the motherboard - I am not sure if they are left the USB converter Touch side disconnected. If they have, then you are in luck since its a 30pin plus touch, IF they have not then not much you can do but replace like for like. At present the failure rate is the worst i've come across so you might as well 'experiment'. All the best
