I am part way roll out 500 extensions across 19 sites. There are some things is lacking 1. Office hours for internal queues. 2. Custom phone templates 3. The office 365 sync is quite limited. However it’s cheap and the soft clients are very good. Works well on mobile devices as well as Windows etc. 1
leeshellard Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 We have used 3cx single site with 70-80 extensions for 2 years now. We have found it great and have made huge use of the 3cx phone app for remote workers. Not really got a bad thing to say about it. 1
MatthewL Posted February 17, 2021 Posted February 17, 2021 I've got it running on a Linux box, couple of phones, no grumbles so far, does lack some features but its cheap and softphone options are good compared to some. 1
TechMonkey Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) 2. Custom phone templates Are you cloud hosted? We use custom templates, there is even an editor in the settings. We've used it for 5 years or so. Can't complain. Does everything and more that we need, has been rock solid and at a decent price. Best thing is all the features are there, rather than having to buy a license for this and a new license for that. The price worried our Bursar at the time, thought it was too cheap so must be bad. But we ran a POC and it was perfect. As an IT department we use softphones and headsets, which works great (and has the added benefit of stopping people coming to our office to make a call!) and the mobile apps and web interface took a massive load off over COVID. Davit2005 Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 I've used 3CX at home for last 3-4 years. Switching my ISPs cloud VOIP system to it at the next contract renewal. Very easy to use, got some cheap Cisco SPA504Gs about 3 off ebay. Get a PoC setup and see how you go. Struggling to get the remote phone bit setup but I have the free version so no support. Will probably have another crack at it sooner or later. 1
DGardiner Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 You can modify the template but you can't have different templates for different phones. you can make as many templates as you like? we have custom ones based on what theyre used for? You just assign the template you want to the phone as you provision it?
Bedders Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Non-school here: We use 3CX and it's been good. We have softphones installed on everyone's PC's (although more difficult for you, as you'll probably need physical handsets in some locations) in conjunction with the mobile apps. Licensing is based on the number of simultaneous calls rather than anything to do with extensions. You can get a free license and try it before you commit to anything. They offer a Linux VM for you, or you can install it on a Windows environment. 1
localzuk Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 We've been running it for about 5 years here, originally at one site, and now rolled out to 6 of our 8 sites (soon to be all 8). Its a good system, especially if you need to dabble with anything more complex you can use the Call Flow Designer). 1

DGardiner Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 (edited) Also... You can get the on demand call recording for free (its only in the top licence) if thats of interest for you This works on our yealink phones atleast, in the template you add: #Configure Line Key11 {IF blf11} linekey.11.line = %%Line%% linekey.11.value = %%type%% linekey.11.pickup_value = %%PickupValue%% linekey.11.type = %%DKtype%% linekey.11.label = %%label%% linekey.11.extension = %%PickupValue%% {ELSE} linekey.11.type = 25 linekey.11.label = Record Call {ENDIF} For us this is if BLF11 is unconfigured in the phones blf settings it will display a call record button Edited February 18, 2021 by DGardiner

Does the multiple the multiple template work for DECT phones? I can’t see it on ours. Cheers
FN-GM Posted February 18, 2021 Posted February 18, 2021 Quick question - does anyone know how you make queues appear in the directory list - IE showing without searching? Also is there a way to hide digital receptionists from the search please?
FN-GM Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 1 - you should be able to use Call Flow Designer to create what you want. Hello, I have opened a new post about this. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/enterprise-software/220514-3cx-call-flow-designer-office-hours-queue.html#post1887579 Thanks
