Ryan Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Anyone got this? Played the demo on Saturday morning on the PC and immediately went out to buy it. Have been thrashing the arse off it all weekend It's so much fun - it makes Gran Turismo look like train spotting! The damage modelling is a thing of beauty - Damage showcase videoYes, that's all in-game footage. It almost makes you want to total your car to enjoy the replays... The game centers around you, as a rookie driver, setting up a racing team. You get to name the team and choose the colours and designs for your cars. Then you need to earn money to fill your garage with cars that allow you to compete in certain races. There are various events - so far i've thrashed big US muscle cars round New York and San Francisco, raced open wheel one-seaters round Donnington, drifted jap tuners sideways down a mountainside road, and hurtled GT supercars through european racetracks. There's oodles of variety, and what can only be described as arseloads of cars to buy. I recently bought an Aston Martin DBR9 for just under £1 Million to compete in the end-of-season Le Mans event Probably the prettiest game i've played, even on my mediocre system. Highly recommended. AngryITGuy Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 I too downloaded a copy of this at the weekend for my XBOX 360. You are right the damage modelling is fantastic the best out there at the moment. The only issue I had with it and I am sure its got nothing to do with my driving skills was that the game has a steep learning curve and is seriously unforgiving. The slightest bump with the opposing cars sends you skiding off the track, it doesn't matter if the AI driver is the one at fault as your the one who always comes off worse. It would have been a lot worse if skidding off the track didn't look so GOOD!

JonahIJ Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 It is indeed very nice looking, and superbly playing game. Got it myself for the 360 just over a week ago and have been destroying it constantly. The variety of the racing is excellent, open-wheel, touring, drift, prestige, the works. Currently ranked number 2, so I'm almost at the prestigious top spot. Not to mention winning Le Mans in the stupidly fast Audi!

Hope you've been using the Flashback feature to rewind the action and try again then When starting out, i set the difficulty on Normal or Basic, so you get a good 4 or 5 Flashbacks per race to undo the muck-ups, whoever's fault they are I'm starting to get ballsy and ramp up the diffculty level, which boils down to less Flashbacks for when it all goes tits-up. Focuses you somewhat Get the PC demo here

Michael Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I downloaded the PS3 demo a few weeks back, it was a nice demo, although whacking it onto hard I found it impossible to catch the drivers ahead!

Michael Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 I haven't bought it yet, but did buy Colin McRae Dirt ages ago, but found it too easy overall and the online play was pants. How does Grid compare? How many tracks/cars are there?

Ryan Posted June 13, 2008 Author Posted June 13, 2008 Yep, i always smile when the guy in front is obviously hammering it too hard to stay ahead and loses the back end. Of course it then turns into a guessing game where he'll end up! Have had to dive outside of a spin-out a couple of times to avoid hitting someone. Something cool i've noticed is when someone's lost it going into a corner and i've ploughed into the pile-up, then Flashbacked to a few seconds before to try and avoid it and almost every time, they (AI drivers) do it differently too, and there's no pile-up! Says a lot for the AI

NFS hot pursuit is on par
