I note that we here in Preston are to get a heavy dump of snow over the next 24 hours or so (building up overnight from sleet this afternoon).

I'm quite a fan of a decent winter and haven't been dissapointed this year with it barely getting above freezing for the past few weeks and the ground is nice and hard. This has also given us some very nice clear starry nights where I can get my telescope out in the back garden without it being squelchy!

We rarely get snow here and as we've already had a couple of light coatings so far and am quite looking forwards to a scruncy snow walk tomorrow :)

Anyone else had any snow fun yet this winter?

No snow in my part of Kent but traveling to a Hospital appointment today over the border in Sussex there was snow on fields.

I want snow! Not that I can really play in it this year!

everything was frosty here this morning with a light scattering of very small snow flakes on top

and when I was riding home on my bike at about 10 a.m. there was a very light snow shower

must get my crampons out!!!

p.s. Merseyrail have said the don't expect to 'be able to run a service' tomorrow

so potentially 7 or 8 more snow flakes expected overnight!

We have at least 5 hours of heavy snow forecast from the early hours followed by several hours of light snow into the afternoo.

I can't wait :D

As I said, snow is uncommon here and it's nice to be thought of for once!

We have a full night from any time. Is building to 80% change at midnight and hovering around that than 90-100% between 9am and 1pm tomorrow. Wife is on nights so maybe staying at work!

If it does happen, I have a feeling there won’t be much home schooling done tomorrow.

Got up this morning expecting at least somefrost and stuff

not a thing

actually looks far warmer than yesterday - not even ice on car windows!!!

Met Office has changed the forecast to light snow in an hour or so and that's all

We have a Yellow warning in place - and surrounding towns have had snow - yet for us we seem to have a microclimate that stops snow. Used to see it on the train into London that about 4 or 5 miles further down the line you would see snow (if the trains were even running...)

Light dusting reported on the North Downs yesterday from a fellow mountain biker. Can't get out myself to check due to mild cold/chestiness (no covid symptoms fortunately).

Met Office have been delaying the promised snow hour by hour

they have now withdrawn it totally

still feels damn cold!!

Met Office is my go to weather app, but they really seem to have lost the plot recently - they got the one last week completely wrong ( the forecast was stubbornly clear, even when it had been actually coming down for hours) and they went the other way today - forecast loads for both home and work all through they day, when all we got was a light dusting at around 4am and a bit of sleet this morning. Accuweather and the BBC both much more accurate recently, which makes a change.

Fair bit of snowfall here in Mid Wales today, but nothing settled below 1000ft. Above that, it’s pretty blanketed and the roads are fun! Was interesting trying to run in [emoji52]
