Hi all,

I've been messing with bginfo this afternoon but it is running really intermittently, sometimes it works first time on a machine that hasn't been used before but then on another machine where it has been working it will suddenly stop working with no rhyme or reason

We are using the following logon script:

\\FQDN\netlogon\bginfo\bginfo64.exe \\FQDN\netlogon\bginfo\bginfostaff.bgi /timer:0 /silent /NOLICPROMPT

and the bginfo config file is set to create the wallpaper image in the users appdata folder. I'm not sure where I'm going wrong, everything I read says it's really simple and you just need to set up a logon script but it's so intermittent I can't put it out on the network and the alternatives aren't much better. I'm calling it a day for now but if anyone has any suggestions I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

If it's any consolation ours uses the same script and the wallpaper is a bit erratic too. I put it down to it calling the wallpaper from a network share, but it's never been annoying enough to investigate further. The "Info" part is always there, but not always the wallpaper.

Interested too. Made many changes and not sure if it was an update but the wall paper is static and I have now made changes to the details but it just sits on top of the existing info leaving one unreadable mess.

Running via a logon script that runs a bat file from netlogon.

Recently introduced Applocker as well. Would that have any impact?

We ditched bgibfo some time ago, we now use desktop info. This runs in the background and overlays the required info over the wallpaper.

Hmmm... Might give that a go. Looks a bit like a cut down/not as attractive Rainmeter.

I copied Bginfo and associated files to a folder under the program files directory as part of the image process.

Logon script runs from there and applocker allows it as it from the program files folder.

Touch wood been stable - but only been using it this way since the start of sept.

Thanks, I'm giving this suggestion a go. It's working OK on a Windows 10 PC that has not got applocker on it although they are at different states of updates.

I'm going to see if I can pull the bgi conf file from the netlogon folder so that way I can just update in one place.
