Hi guys, with this remote working business I am having to support workers who are at home.

From our DA server I can ping and also RDP into off-site DirectAccess workstations fine.

However this is limited as I can't remote into current sessions e.g. to show a user how something is done.

The machines show up on Impero, I can send them files etc and use most of the Impero controls, however I can't actually remote into their session - it times out / fails.

Does anyone know if there is a way I can get it working? Is it an IPV6 / IPV4 problem or a firewall issue?

I don't suppose you ever came up with a solution. I think the problem lies in the fact that Impero sees the local IP of the connected machine. Such as 192.168.1.etc.. rather than an IP on your network, so it can't connect to it. Surprising they show up at all.

Do you know if you did anything to get RDP working, because I can't get that to work either. Perhaps it needs to be allowed through the firewall.

Hi @mikes and @mitchell1981,

Unfortunately, impero wasnt designed to work over the internet. As you correctly guessed, it only knows the local IP Address of the machines, so home users will be listed on the Impero Server with the local address, such as 192.168.x.x - which is of course not accessible over the internet. It was designed to work over a LAN only, where the IP Addresses can all 'talk'. The remote control in Impero also creates a *separate* IPV4 TCP connection to the local IP Address inbound to the controller... firewall changes alone wont work.

I'm not allowed to mention any products but i'm sure someone could point you in the direction of a cloud-based solution that would do what you are looking for ;)

Isn't allowed to... But his username makes it obvious! [emoji23][emoji23]

But yeah... Get senso. I suspect impero will shut down soon anyway.. or atleast the UK market will.

have you tried running the console direct from the the direct-access server? as that will have all the turedo gubbins in place to translate ipv6 to ipv4, or create an ipv6 turedo connection on the impero server? Not au fait with the product, but we have the same problem with SCCM and have all the IT workstations set for turedo, so we can remote control over direct access

Thank you @Arthur.

Yes @Alis_Klar... it does; it is made for Windows actually, with additional Chromebook support. Would you please let me know where you were looking so we can update the website to ensure its clear in future? Thanks!

Hi,

Anyone using Impero and would like to discuss your options of resolving this issue please speak to your account manager about migrating to a hosted server in Azure and using our web browser interface console to manage, view and control client devices anywhere.

Thanks

By now you are probably using Quick Assist?
I bought gotoassist. Think it was just under £400 for the year. We still use directaccess but I'm thinking of binning it off soon as MS is desperately trying to get rid in favour of always on vpn. Not sure if that has the same limitations thought with impero
