Has anyone had experience of using iZettle card machines in school for either the canteen or the finance office?

Was was buy in like?

Any issues setting up the system.

We got one for parent events and random purchases. I didn't deal with the admin side but had no technical issues raised. The person that dealt with it, and set it up, was non-technical, so shows how easy it was.

The parents I had a brief word with that used it really liked it as everything was there in front of them and speed up their transactions massively.

I know a few people that use them in small businesses and no issues. In fact I paid by one yesterday the only thing he had to remember was his phone as that appears to be how he had it linked up.

I saw somewhere that a school had bought android tablets to use as its link machine.

I believe it can be connected to a Tablet or Phone, if it was me I would have it linked via a Tablet.

I suppose at the end of the day with anything like this it comes down to transaction fees as that it where it can sting you.

We were going to use Worldpay with our NRS system, but Worldpay want to know intimate details of all the Governors, far and above what is appropriate.

Our Sixth Form Cafe has one - they run it from a Samsung Tablet that just sits on our WiFi. No issues in setting up and works well from all accounts....

...popular with drug dealers I've heard. ;)

I used one back in the day when they still connected to phones using the headphone jack! (Remember those?!) Now I believe they connect using bluetooth. My only query would be the payment fee. Perhaps the school would be better off looking at alternative readers just to see if they can get a better rate. Although iZettle has a certain polish around it with the app, which is nice and it's so simple.

Also, just edited the title, to make it less "shouty"
