Hahaha after 3 years I finally have a Network Manager. It was touch and go, that I might have to turn.
-
HAHA she did not, I went to do some MIS training with the new HR Manager and i said that thing is disgusting i am not touching that. I felt bad at the fact she had been using it for 3 hours.

That's why we did it on a member of admin staff first. The techs pointed out the colours of the bacteria. Apparently their knees were interesting when they did the same experiment the week before. Student keyboards are going to be pretty disgusting. However teacher computers where people share the rooms are not going to be great. I share my room with 5 other teachers and I am curious but freaked out about checking.
-
Ask the techs to swab it and use a Agar plate and incubate. I was going to post it on the social media but unless I have a cleaning regime set up it could cause a larger issue.
-
Same here and its now clear its pretty disgusting :-(

I got my Years 10s to put together a PC on Specialist, one revealed that he was actually building a pc at home. He got a RTX3070 for MSRP . I have not asked what the source of finance was. He sent pictures and even apologised on Google Classroom for poor cable management. hahaha

This was a member of admin staffs computer. The thought of checking a keyboard in my own classroom now .
-
How to you deal with clearing of keyboards. I asked the Science techs to swab a keyboard and incubate the sample and its pretty disgusting.

What MFPs are you using around your sites?

Yeah. I have left that side of things with Finance and the principal. I only interjected again when i saw they were going beyond the scope. I am not ending up with more Epson workforces! -

Thanks for the responses guys. We have put a proposal out to tender as we decided to look at a larger amount of printers across the site now -
I am looking at getting rid of our Epson WORKFORCE PRO WF-8590DWF (I was a Head of Year, at the time of purchase, and had nothing to do with this absolute waste of money). https://www.epson.co.uk/products/printers/inkjet-printers/business-inkjet/workforce-pro-wf-8590dwf

IPEVO V4K Ultra High Definition 8MP USB Visualiser deployed these around the whole site. Staff love them.

Well I was right in my suspicions. I just got this back from the company "I have reviewed the output load data from the latest UPS Service Visits and agree that the load onsite is very low in comparison to the capacity of the UPS System. Your current UPS System is designed to 40kVA N+1, consisting of 2x 40KVA UPS Modules. The site load, as per the last engineer report, is 5kW." 40kVA is the same output as a diesel generator. More than enough for my 2 node cluster!

Everything about the IT in the school was a backhander it was BFS money. I am picking up the mess and trying to tidy it up.
-
Hahaha as much as i am a computer science teacher i am going to have to sit and try to find out how i would even get that info tomorrow.
-
This thing will keep the site going for i think it was something like a day. I will check with them. I just saw the bill for it and i have so many questions. I foresee a phone conversation tomorrow!
-
Its been put in to be able to keep the servers for two site going for a while but its now overkill and costing us alot. I am the SLT for the area and doubling up as the network manager until we find a new one. But even I know its too much.

HI My school was rebuilt along side a neighbouring school (not in the same trust) by Civica in 2012. This site was originally designed to operate as the data centre for both schools until the leadership decided they wanted nothing to do with Civica and the contracts. I have a pretty big UPS which is costing an arm and a leg to maintain PowerWAVE 9000 DPA 2x40kVA. I am just wondering what others have, we have a 2 node cluster here. Thanks
