mrssevage Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Hi, How do i obtain PaperCut licence? I am in process of getting quotes for new printing provider. They are asking me for out PaperCut licence. Where do i find this? I am logged in to PC but I am not sure what I am looking for. Thank you, Margaret
caffrey Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 Should be C:\Program Files\PaperCut NG\server\application.license 1
network41 Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 You will need to login to papercut as an Admin then go to the About section scroll to the bottom and you should see licence info 1
mikeprice Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 First question do you have PaperCut Do you use Papercut sorry if this seems trivial but I have worked in school where a lot of software is installed and 'used' but configured so as to not really be needed hence Papercut could be in use but not doing much - hence you would never have had to look at it - which may not be true in your case and anyway - if you are looking for quotes - all they need to know is whether or not you would use the printers with PaperCut - they do NOT need your license until they install then - I would have thought which sounds a bit dodgy???
mrssevage Posted December 6, 2019 Author Posted December 6, 2019 Hi, Yes we do have PaperCut. I hardly ever go into it as we haven't got limits set up. I receive updates from it about state of printer: toner. jam and so on. It does sounds doggy but I have meet with 4 companies and everyone asked me for it. "Have you managed to obtain a copy of your PaperCut licence as discussed that you could mail to me please ?" I am assuming they want to see our usage. Thanks M First question do you have PaperCut Do you use Papercut sorry if this seems trivial but I have worked in school where a lot of software is installed and 'used' but configured so as to not really be needed hence Papercut could be in use but not doing much - hence you would never have had to look at it - which may not be true in your case and anyway - if you are looking for quotes - all they need to know is whether or not you would use the printers with PaperCut - they do NOT need your license until they install then - I would have thought which sounds a bit dodgy???
mikeprice Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 OK - still seems weird - when I did ours I just told them the usage - actually I gave them a chart with the usage over the last 3 years with predicted high and low for the next year I got it all from bills the current providers sent every month I don;t see how giving them your license will allow them access to your usage - and if it does - I would worry about what else you are letting them see??? (maybe I'm being paranoid - but sales people need to be kept an eye on!!) 1
caffrey Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 If you have NG apparently you can get a discount if you are going to MF - well that's what konica told me so is it something to do with that ? 1
round2it Posted December 6, 2019 Posted December 6, 2019 They can find out how long is left on the licence and charge accordingly saving you money in the long run. Standard practice i have been through it twice. 2
LincolnE Posted December 9, 2019 Posted December 9, 2019 I'd also assume the licence would have details like allowed users, additional device/print release licences or things like that (that may or may not be used). 1
