MartinT Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 But sort of funny it thinks SIMs is a virus! Our BackupAssist crypto ransomware detector constantly picks up SIMS .enc files as ransomware when they're not!
AliG Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 OK so I have held off for as long as I can so lets see how this goes tonight. Hopefully any issues have been ironed out. I do wonder if I need to update our start menu / taskbar xml layout with the change of icon.
bobsmith Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 The amount of our users thrown by the change from blue to white icons!!!! Also they've made the tool bar icons non-ethnic and non-binary gendered. I really don't have issues on either of those topics but I don't know who made that a priority at Capita! Maybe they are just supposed to be little grey space aliens now? 1
bobsmith Posted January 7, 2020 Posted January 7, 2020 Did you just assume they are aliens? They self identified as Aliens. There was a debate as to what shade of grey they are....
the_quick Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Had problem with printing registers. Patch fixed it, current version of sims 7.190.31.2. Hopefully no more issues
DrBeaker Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Had problem with printing registers. Patch fixed it, current version of sims 7.190.31.2. Hopefully no more issues We've not had any issues since the update has all been done - some initial problems but all sorted now. 7.190.31.2 - SIMs (with the workstation printing patch installed) SOLUS3 agents have updated to 3.12.50.2 as well now (had some issues Monday when it didn't work, but sorted by our MIS team)
MartinT Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 SOLUS3 agents have updated to 3.12.50.2 as well now Somehow I had missed that SOLUS update. Just deployed it and my agent has updated fine.

Surely there's so many things that should have been prioritised over this? Apparently someone was offended so it jumped to the top of the list 1
Koldov Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I updated over the holidays and everyone is up and running ok. However, one of our admins has done a dry run of the census and has reported errors relating to Ethnicity... Not sure if that's a bug that needs fixing or we've done something wrong at our end?
coolhands Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 No bug I don't think. My errors for that are usually just that you need to edit the details for the individual pupil(s). Its that one and the first language box that cause issues. eg has 'Afghan' there which is not accepted so change it to (something like any other asian background)
MYK-IT Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Quick query.. Just applied the Autumn 2019 updates this evening, but having issues deploying "SIMS Autumn 2019 - Statutory Returns Fileset 1402". It fails to install, with a reference within the Agent Deployment Log stating, "CannotConnectToDatabase", "Process exited with exit code 1", "One or more errors occurred" Any suggestions? I am awaiting a reply from our SIMS Support Team (tomorrow). Many Thanks.
willtech Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Worst case manually extract the fileset and import into sims
Koldov Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) How are you deploying the Fileset? Through SOLUS? I've never had any luck doing that. I'm not seeing Fileset 1402 on SOLUS yet anyway. Does anyone know if Fileset 1402 is still causing problems? Fileset — Changes to Exclusions Collection — I see Patch 25529 has popped up on SOLUS... Edited January 9, 2020 by Koldov 1

Fileset — Changes to Exclusions Collection — I see Patch 25529 has popped up on SOLUS... I tried to deploy fileset 1402 through SOLUS but it failed. Not tried again since. Data usually import manually. 1
coolhands Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Tools > Setups > Import Fileset (once you have downloaded and unzipped the fileset) 1
Koldov Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 How is this achieved? Is it similar to how you import the pre-defined reports? I'm not sure, our admin does this but I think so (best wait for someone more knowledgeable to chip in)... I'm sure they do it from their client workstation. But, from my first link in the post above: "To import the file, open SIMS with the appropriate access level (System Manager) and import via Tools | Setups | Import Fileset." 1
MYK-IT Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 (edited) Tools > Setups > Import Fileset (once you have downloaded and unzipped the fileset) Thanks all - All sorted now. Additionally, I found out from our SIMS Support Team that the deployment of the Fileset via SOLUS3 fails, if the SIMS DMS service is configured to use the SQL 'sa' account, as ours was (within Solus3 > Environment > Services > SIMS DMS) instead of a SIMS account with the appropriate permissions.- therefore I ended up applying the Fileset update via SOLUS3. Now need to apply the "Consolidated Workstation Patch 2' update as users are reporting register printing issues... Edited January 9, 2020 by MYK-IT 1

Interesting bit of info! Our SOLUS is configured to use SA (it was set-up by a Capita engineer, so of course why wouldn't it be?!), but I wonder if your SIMS support told you what permissions are needed by the user account? Also, just to check... In my SOLUS this appears in the GUI under SETTINGS > SOLUS3 > SOLUS, are you finding this somewhere else?
howartp Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Also, just to check... In my SOLUS this appears in the GUI under SETTINGS > SOLUS3 > SOLUS, are you finding this somewhere else? Ditto... I can't see the route mentioned containing anything about auth settings.
howartp Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 Ditto... I can't see the route mentioned containing anything about auth settings. Although... my SOLUS console is 3 years out of date.

My admin is off today so I can't check, but my manager says it seems to be the opposite. The other languages are not active and so can't be selected and they all have 'any other' already selected...

It's via the Environment > Targets > Services tab Select Product: SIMS / Service: SIMS DMS line (ours is the top line), and change within there. I can find out what specific SIMS permissions is required for this account from SIMS support, and get back to you. 1
