Windows 10 Edu not activating ?

Hi

 

This has happened fairly recently and driving me potty.

 

On quite a few Windows 10 Edu machines that are freshly MDTed, they do not activate anymore and wont work doing it manually through GUI either.

 

Running it via CMD I get this:

 

 

Anyone having a similar issue ? I have renewed my MS agreement and looking at my available MAK keys I have over 500 to spare..

Do you have a KMS server already setup? If so, you should be able to activate Windows 10 Education with:

 

cscript C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs -ipk NW6C2-QMPVW-D7KKK-3GKT6-VCFB2
cscript C:\Windows\System32\slmgr.vbs -ato

 

If not, do what @free780 mentioned below and setup AD-Based activation. It's a lot better.

Has your agreement been renewed since you last activated? I'm sure I saw a thread which mentioned that keys from previous agreements can't be used any longer

That would make sense, as I've noticed the same thing and it's always down to keys from a previous agreement.

 

If we can't use them anymore, it would be nice if MS removed them from the Product Keys listing for each product in VLSC though!

Yes, it would be rather useful if they removed them.

I got an error with a machine and I eventually got on to MS, who told me the key was no longer valid. Removing anything that is not longer relevant is surely a simple enough task for MS.

Yeah, that'd be nice too.

 

I suppose I can see a certain amount of logic to making us request keys we want to use to limit the number of valid keys 'in the wild', but it's certainly not convenient!

I get the impression that the VLSC team at Microsoft love bureaucracy. They can't even update the Windows 10 ISOs each month like the MSDN/MVS team does.

slmgr.vbs /dlv

 

What does the 'description' return?
