what happens when the server goes off?

 

If the server goes off, I’ld say you have a bigger issue on your hands. [emoji6] It used to be that older GPOs back in the XP days would suggest a UNC path, but I agree, local is much better.

Hi,

 

we also use Windows 10 Education and have the GPO below set, which points to \\domain\netlogon\windows10\lockscreen\lockscreen.jpg. This has never been an issue until we started testing Windows 10 1909. We have tried setting it to a local path and no joy.

 

Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel > Personalization > Force a specific default lock screen and logon image

 

 

 

In Settings -> Personalization -> Lock Screen I can see that it has been set

 

any ideas?

 

edit: just to add.. when locking the screen the set lockscreen image will flash quickly then change to all blue

We always have the logon background stored locally on the PC. If it ever needs changing we just do a file copy with PDQ.

Literally c:\logo.jpg in that same GPO setting.

Im on 1909, this works with 1903 as well.

Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative templates > Control Panel > Personalization

Do not display the lock screen - Enabled (removed CAD mesage)

Force a speicifc default lock screen image - Enabled (This points to a unc share, everyone has read and I found it works better with computers having read as well. I set it locksreen.jpg and rename when I want to change the picture)

Prevent changing lock screen - Enabeld

 

I also add a registry key to disable the acrylic effect.

No worries. I had been meaning to sort ours since the start of summer, when we went from 1803 to 1903.

I am certain theres a GPO for this, but I dont think we are running up to date ADMX files.
