DalekSec Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 I have lots of trouble reading walls of text, i can normally do a paragraph just about but when confronted with a Microsoft Technet page my brain gives up! Do any of you use filters? Recently started using Colorveil which is good (bar it being spelt incorrectly #Irony) but for some reason it doesn't like to stay installed on my Laptop and i have to reinstall it after a restart. Also it only fills 2 of my 3 monitors. I would like a software solution as having to put on and off physical filters would be too much of a pain, and must have a blue colour filter as that is whats best for me to read with. Plus points if a Mac version is available also! Cheers Dalek

I have not, as i wasn't aware of a portable version! Will take a look. What about using a text to speech app/browser extension? bushby Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 I use colourvail portable you set it to your preference of colour. If it's really bad then you can also go to the eye people (can't spell the proper word) and get glasses which are tinted to the colour that works best for you. Don't forget that you can also change to colours in CMD and powershell 1

Have thought about it, but then will have to carry the glasses around where ever i go, i already wear glasses and don't want a tint constantly just when i need to read 1

I may not be Dyslexic but I have always skipped bits of text for some reason which is why I dont tend to read many (if any) books as when I was young(er) and tried reading Enid Blytons Famous Five books I never knew what was going on as somehow I had skipped a load of paragraphs so had to keep going back and re-reading everything until I found/read the bits I had missed! Sounds like the OP needs to report the issue to ColorVail as it doesnt sound like it is behaving properly.
Bompalompalomp Posted March 18, 2019 Posted March 18, 2019 Highly recommend the portable version. We have it mapped for everyone who needs it and we've noticed several dyslexic students using it and also staff who suffer from migraines use it to darken their screens.

My eye muscles were weak, and I'd end up re-reading the same line as my eye muscles had given out moving my eyes down... As for colourveil, it shouldn't uninstall itself, try the portable version in the meantime and contact them.

DalekSec Posted March 18, 2019 Author Posted March 18, 2019 Just tried the Read Aloud tool in Outlook and looks (sounds) like it will do that job for emails. Might look at getting dragon installed as we do have a license for it.
