Setting up an old laser printer on Windows 10 then I saw this. CB

Ha, sorry for the CB but look at this thing. This printer gets used daily, it has an infrared port on the front for PDA printing!

 

it's not only old enough to attend the school but to graduate!

Got a little 1300n here that's just been pulled out of use (still working, they needed a MFP). Cracking printer, was a bit of a mare to get going in Windows 10 but it worked. That's 16 years old.

Also got to mention the famous HP4250. Probably the best mono printer ever made. We still have 11 running.

I would still buy these (or the 4350s) today if I needed a reliable mono-only printer and couldn't/didn't want to get a managed contract. They just won't die.

We've just had 4 4250s die in the last month. Well, I say die. we don't want to pay for the new fusers.

 

It turns out if you glue pages together, then print a picture of a pritt-stick, the page wraps itself round the fuser...

 

We were running a laserjet 6 until a couple of years ago. It still worked as a backup in the exams office, they just wanted more space in the new office when they moved.

Nothing wrong with these older printers, last of the well built kit and will keep going strong. That must be getting on 20 years old as I remember them in the new IT suite we had when I was at school back in 2000. Really low volume will at 68k on that.

 

I had a LaserJet 4 which was 20 years old then and my colleague now has it so must be knocking on 30 years, only got a 10Mb network port but solid reliable (and massive) device.

In 1999 when I was a poor uni student, I bought a second hand Laserjet II. Weighed an absolute ton (probably more than all the rest of the stuff in my room put together, furniture included) and had already done about 150,000 pages but got me through uni and a couple of house moves before I finally scrapped it. Beast of a machine, never let me down but I swear the lights used to dim when it started up...
