Does anyone know if there are any free alternatives to Logmein Rescue. There used to be a version of VNC (apparently there are loads of them now) that allows the similar remote support that didn't need firewall alterations or the user to install anything.

It is, but their definition of "commercial" is that if anyone is getting paid along the chain, it's commercial.

have to admit, i've never looked into Windows 10 quick assist. All our devices are now on Windows 10 so will certainly investigate.

My new place has been using AeroAdmin, similar to Teamviewer but I'm not too sure if we'll stick with it for this particular use here.

It is free as long as no-one using it is being paid to use it, so if you're using it for your job, then it counts as commercial use to them.

I am really liking the Quick Assist in Windows 10. It is very fast and most likely something we will use. We usually use msra.exe /offerra

I was lucky as I purchased TeamViewer 10 with 3 seats when they still did perpetual licences. Got 10% off for educational discount at the time, and it has paid for itself.
