6Foot2 Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 No money back option with our collections, but we have been using PRM Green Technologies for a few years now and no issues. Collections are free, provided you have enough kit to make it economic to stop by. This doesn't amount to a huge stack of old IT kit: Probably best to talk to PRM themselves for more information if you are interested. We are looking at another solution, but I don't know what to make of it yet: They are visiting the site on the 6th December. Link: PRM Green Technologies 1
andyfield Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I used ICT Reverse last time and they were great. Took a while with paperwork but was worth the wait. Complete audit list and hdd destruction list from the 100s of crap I gave them. All collected for free and full certificate.
smurfomatic Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 Used PRM before but now use Stone, they provide free disposals over a certain amount and can offer money back if there is anything usable. Not sure how much though, as the only stuff they've collected from us was marked as "not working".
Katy Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 +! for PRM, used to use them and we always got a WEEE transfer note, followed shortly by the data destruction certificate listing the make/serial of all hard drives taken away. Free and you usually get a couple of mugs out of it. Changed to a local company now who do give us cashback if we throw anything away that has a value (usually only get anything decent for switches/routers) but as they're a small operation they don't do nationwide collection.

Meldrew Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 +1 for PRM. They appear to take away some things that other companies won't touch, projector bulbs and UPS batteries from memory. I've tried a couple of other companies and they wouldn't take these. Meldrew

I've recently had the tour of Stone's factory that included a detailed look at their disposal/recyling plant and processes, which look absolutely first class to me. We've used them before and I would already recommend them on that basis alone but in these modern GDPRd times, seeing the precision of their processes and procedures for managing equipment disposal really does give them an edge I'd say.
