Space saving - Help!

I am looking to purchase 5 desktop pcs but have limited space to put them.

 

A long while ago at another school I saw some hp Pc's that sat behind the monitor.

 

Any ideas what they are?

I have been searching for them for ages!!

Dell do these too. There is a post somewhere on this forum that contains the model number.

The Dell 755 can be set up with the unit behind the monitor, just get a quote from business not schools sales, much cheaper.

Has anyone had experience with a HP Compaq DC7800 Ultra Slim?

 

We have quite a few of the Dell 745's across the site, but just wondered at looking at HP!

We use the Viglen Genie Ultra small form factor machines (although we are not mounting them at the back of the monitor)

 

We've been very pleased with them - machines are good and service is good.

I like the look of these, BUT, what happens in 5 years time when the TFTs are still good and working well and you want new computers and HP / Dell / Viglen etc have changed the case style so they won't mount behind the screen so your narrow desking is useless again or you have to get all new screens again.

 

I would be interested in a 25 year we will keep making this design guarentee by the big names on it.

 

What I do as I know it will work, is I use standard SFF Cube PCs from Shuttle, Biostar etc so they don't mount to the screen but are small enough to fit under the TFT's base and push them to the back of the desk and they work great.

We currently have a 100 or more of the Dell OptiPlex 620/745 USFF AIO and have found them to be very sturdy. We got a trial of the HP AIO system and decided it had a bit too much 'wobble' in it.

I dunno about the HP stuff, but I received a brochure from one of my suppliers, about a Lenovo (didn't know they made desktops) device that fits behind a TFT monitor and it supports/holds the Lenovo Thnkcentre machine.

 

I checked with the supplier, she reckons it fits to ANY vesa monitor, but I think it will only fit to certain Lenovo units - referred to as the 4.5 Litre models (yeah by volume). Which are the M57 / M57P, apparently.

That's why I was quite interested in the "all-in-one" machines from SCL (forum sponsors - see SCL Online - Homepage) - seemingly they're basically screens with standard-sized Micro-ATX cases stuck on the back and will take motherboard, 3.5" drive and slim optical drive. I figure if you want to upgrade in a few years time (or need to repair sooner) you can replace the components and keep the screen / case.

We bought some HP a while back (at old school) they were a decent price but they were flawed by the graphics cards in them - kept failing.

 

Suppose you only get what you pay for... I might be wrong but I think they were DX2250 model if that's of any help. Not the slim kind you are looking for, just feeding back on the hardware.
