Microsoft releases Office 2019 for Windows and Mac

I've been trying to get it to download all morning with varying config xml files but whenever I try all I get is the following error.

 

Any one else seen this at all? I have uninstalled previous versions of office from my machine before i started.

I have also tried this on a brand new stand alone clean VM as well as my machine at home which is not connected to any systems. Still get the same error message.

The download folder should be about 2.97GB big, make sure it's all there. 3 tries to get this right for me (it stuck twice at 400 and 440) 1 really big "stream.x64.x-none.dat" file at 2.2Gb!

 

any stupid issue with the xml might leave you at 40kb...

At last I have it working!!!

 

I didn't realise you had to put the full path to the xml file on the second half of the command after /download.

 

I was just putting configuration.xml and it wasn't getting it. With the full path (eg c:\odt\configuration.xml) it worked first time.

 

 

 

My command:

 

C:\>c:\odt\setup.exe /download c:\odt\configuration.xml

I have same error you had but putting full path in for xml has not worked.

 

Deploying with SCCM i get an error 0x87D00324 and running directly on the machine i get the error you posted.

I was shown that generic error message when I was configuring mine. Turns out I was missing a quotation mark from one of the paths in the XML file. Once the XML file was amended, it worked.

Thank-you. Made a new xml and yep, working now through SCCM WOOHOO! Must have moved or deleted an entry by mistake.

This is what worked for me for shared computers we have a federated domain and ADFS SSO so it does seem seamless only tested it on a few domain joined staff workstations but will soon push it out to an it room

Has there been any release date for Office 365 2019? I'm thinking to deploy that over the 2019 Professional Plus release.

I think what used to be called "Office 365 2016" is now just "Office 365 proplus" in that there is no separate versions now.

 

I installed 2019 and was hugely underwhelmed with it - I've been running the 365 version on my machine for ages and half the feature it's added over the past year seem to be missing. I'm just going to look at deploying 365 instead (Not sure if I'm mad enough to deploy the monthly channel to end users tho!)

The Mac version of Office 365 made the transition last month (going from v16.16.x to v16.17.x. Effectively 2016 > 2019) so I assume the same was done for the Windows version.

If you want new features you're best off deploying Office 365 Pro Plus. There are a few caveats you should be aware of however (like it not being supported on WS2019)...

Because, according to that, you've not licensed it. I think that means it's preview as in Demonstration Version rather than Preview as in pre-release.

Interestingly, even though @chazzy2501's experience appears to debunk your theory, I'm trying to activate the copy using my MAK product key from VLSC and it won't accept it. Keeps saying...

 

"Sorry, this isn't a Microsoft Office product key. You may be entering a product key from another version of Office"

 

I'm definitely copying the one from the "Office Professional Plus 2019" section on the VLSC...

So, it seems that when I posted the opening article, even though Microsoft had "released" Office 2019, they clearly hadn't updated their servers, because my XML decided to download the preview edition. I just re-downloaded it using the same XML file and now it's no longer showing preview. It also now accepts my VLSC product key.

It would be nice to offer this to staff, as obviously the ProPlus licences we currently offer are only good if you are working at the school, once you leave you've lost Office.

If it's anything like Office 2016, you just download and run a tiny EXE installer and it installs all of the Office ProPlus apps. Once installed, activate with the provided product key.

I could have just read the information that was on the ? mark.

You need to activate HUP in VLSC it seems, but when I try

Thought I would add this as I googled it but couldn't find this info.

 

You can uninstall or reinstall individual apps by rerunning the 'setup /configure configuration.xml' command, office will stay activated.

 

Just add or remove the tag to your configuration.xml as required, then run the command again.

 

Also, as it not completely obvious, the ID for OneDrive for Business is Groove, and Skype for Business is Lync.
