World Cup final timing

Why were FIFA not able to work out the Wimbledon final was happening on the same day? The did the same thing in 2006 do they never learn?

Tbf fifa probably knew, I dunno who set the date first but even if it was Wimbledon I don't see why fifa would change the date, Wimbledon global viewing is nothing compared to the world Cup final. Is Wimbledon even that big outside of England?

Wimbledon plays the same fortnight every year. To be fair they have moved back a week in recent years, but it was more than predictable.

 

I suspect that FIFA pays no regard to other sports whatsoever... they live in their own bubble.

 

If it’s England in the final, I will concede Wimbledon. Otherwise, Mr gee40 has a choice of the tv in our bedroom or his iPad for the football.

FIFA probably have to consider the league season and transfers windows, preseason and players holidays, so they probably don’t have much room for manoeuvre. It’s could’ve been played on the Saturday maybe but probably not another weekend.

They have plenty of channels on which to do so. BBC1 and BBC2 for a start.

I don't think FIFA are thinking anything of the sort, look at the prospect of them playing the next world cup during December / January in Qatar because (shock), its really hot there! FIFA will always do what is in their interests i.e. what will make them the most money. Of course the logical thing of just playing the games during the night during the summer doesn't fit with getting the European TV audience.

Wife is currently playing Majong like a demon as she is too nervous watching England v columbia (under Universal fighter rules I think)
