Flying to Barcelona from Gatwick in August and need to park my car at the Airport. It's an early flight so no option but to take the car and I have 4 family members with me.The cheaper option seems to be APH meet and greet car parks where they take your keys and park your car for you.

Anyone had any experience of these?

I have found it cheaper before or not much more to drive to an airport hotel that let you leave your car there and either stay or just ask them if you can leave the car and then get a shuttle bus to the airport

Not necessarily looking for cheaper but wanted to know if they are trustworthy to leave your car and keys with.

If it’s not a service recommended on the Gatwick Airport website then don’t touch it with a barge pole.

There have been too many stories on our local news of late where cars are being parked in fields with keys left in the ignition.

We use Gatwick Long Stay - not cheap, but the car stays where we put it - or persuade someone to take us there

It's an early flight and there's 5 of us so not possible to get someone to drop us. Will check the website.

My friends used the Meet and greet. Absolutely ****. They had the tyre rims scratched alongside with a dent in the rear passenger bumper and by time they noticed it when they got home it was too late according to the company.

I must have been unusually lucky then - I've used it half a dozen times over a few years and always had an excellent service. After years of waiting for buses and taking ages to get to the car, it gives a great feeling of happiness to just walk out of the door and watch your car drive up.

We always use the hotel park and ride when we go from Gatwick - but them we live a long way away - if you live close it may not be worth it

We only live 30 miles from Gatwick... no point bothering with hotels for us :D

Gatwick shortstay, whilst expensive is opposite the terminal if you don't fancy shuttles from long stay car parks or hotels. However, you must pre-book it to keep the price as eye-watering rather than extortionate.

yes if you like some stranger taking your car for a ride round the M25 and using all your petrol then go and leave it with them.

Agreed - have used the official airport Meet and Greet at Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, and Gatwick - it's so quick and easy, no hassle and no fuss. They've always walked around the car and checked mileage with us before handing keys over, and again when we arrived.

We normally use something like Purple Parking but last time we checked the costs and Gatwick's own long stay was pretty competitive. MrwITch wanted to park his own car and hang onto the keys

I'll never park my car in long stay ever again! Not because the experience provided was bad, but because I learnt the scary way that driving home on the M25 after a 7 hour night flight from Dubai where you didn't get any sleep whatsoever is definitely not a good condition to be driving in!

It's taxi at a cost of over £100 for me and the family from now on. Better cash spent and safe than sorry! Not that I have any money to go on any sort of holiday at the moment!

We came home from Canada a few weeks ago - 9 hour flight - no sleep

We had parked the car at a hotel (The Aora in Crawley) and they allow you to book a room for the day - so we got a few hours sleep before the 5 hour drive home

anything else would have been unsafe - I learned this after narrowly avoiding an 'incident' many years ago when I was testing IT systems at a warehouse until 3 a.m. and trying to drive home
