I found the check box that was ticked saying "Run only if an active Internet connection is found"

Just a bit of a bug...

 

When using the PDF viewer the screen is no longer in full screen.

When you close the file explorer window it doesn't revert back to full screen.

Looks like you have the unreleased version with the PDF readAloud, oops. Did you start the app in full screen mode? This doesnt happen for me, it stays in fullscreen mode... strange?

As long as you don’t run EWP in full screen mode then the window is resizable and snapable.

 

Coming in August is a PDF readAloud add on. So no need to run additional software, EWP can do it all.

We have witnessed and cannot reproduce the following bug on version 22.7.7.2311

 

according to the student during the mocks, the screen just wiped whilst he was typing which doesn't make any obvious sense in terms of how the program should run. I am not sure if the bug could be replicated consistently to determine what the underlying issue.

 

What we found upon investigation was we could open a backup, but only in the old version of EWP 2.0.8.9 as when opened in the new version it was still blank.

 

I have the files I can send?

 

It seems changing the filetype from 'backup' to 'regular' works to 'recover' the file ?

To the point in hand, you can use the restore option in the software to restore the BackupExamText files, and will only open via the restore method. To open them via the open or double click method. You have to rename the file extension to “ExamText”.

I'm waiting on our exams officer to release the files so I can send them, the text appears for a fraction of a second then vanishes, nothing on Alt+Tab that I can see.

 

Also, I may be being dense but I can't see a restore option for the new UI?

Either of these locations:

 

If you dont seem either, then you have the button option disabled to stop the student from rolling back the work themselves. We disable it too so that only a member of the IT team can roll it back.

Also dont forget 2022.07.07 is not the latest version and you should be running the latest version.

Ok, updated to 23.2.4.2338 - Still nothing on the main screen though, I can't see anything in the JSON file.

 

No worries though as I've added it to the ribbon that way.

Runs fine if installed locally, but does not run when running from network share.

That is correct and it is something to do with .net framework and SMB 1, stupid really. Hopefully when EWP gets upgrade to .net 7 in the future it will be ok..

It is in the same folder as the main program, depends on where you installed it to.

EWP has a built in Narrator on its own tab that will read back the work a pupil has written.

 

Dictation no, but maybe in the future.

 

Coming soon in the new version for August will be a built in PDF exam paper read aloud.

Depends on the version you are running?

Just be aware that if you upgrade to the latest then running from the network might not be an issue unless you do have SMB v1 stuff enabled (hope not).
