Brave of you to network the machines!

We run it locally here. No chance I'm turning wireless back on, not since the one kid we found with a personal hotspot active on their phone!

We disable the ability to modify Wi-Fi networks too, to stop this, remove the system tray networking icon and control panel and settings access. We have done it this way for many years.

Not to mention all the other restrictive GPOs in place!

We have it so the backup copies of work are store locally and the auto-saved file is on the desktop which is a network location. Better to have it in two places.

Does that remove it from the lock screen, too?

Edit: Actually scratch that, if you push the need dc to unlock GPO you're covered.

Nope, but we get around that by auto login, so if they log off the computer will log in straight away.

Therefore to remove the GPOs that cause this, we instigate a remote GPO update to get the laptops back in normal mode.

What's New/Fixed?

● FIXED: The print preview text control was very slow in updating when pressing Print, straight after having just made a change to the text of the document.

● FIXED: ConfigEdutorGUI will now ask you if you wish to save the JSON file to a new location if the permission is denied when initially saving.

Can I suggest the buttons on the dialog boxes are renamed to be the actions they perform, not a Yes/No answer to a question.

Eg do you want to save: Save, Discard, Cancel

I think what you are trying to say is that the current answers, don’t give a clue to the question, therefore you have to read the question each time to see if the answer fits.

By changing the buttons to your suggestion, the need to read the question becomes irrelevant, because the buttons are single word descriptives. In essence each button asks and answers the question in a single word.

Unless you have another valid reason for changing them? [emoji3]

That's the reason, it's standard GUI design, over time you expect certain popups to appear at certain times so you stop reading the question.

Word has: Save, Don't Save, Cancel for example.

Consider it done, I’ve now got time to look at the GUI experience. I have a few things in relation to the ribbon bar when buttons are disabled and the separator bars that get left behind. And also the ability to hide the tab sections completely.

Had several examwritepad exams where they needed pictures, tables and export to Word so thanks for having added all that, never needed it before. Once I explained they were happy with it but got confused initially over browsing for images and selecting .png, .jpg etc from the dropdown, is there a way to have them all show up ?

Of course there should be but if the insert dialog is from the TextControl component itself then I’m governed by them, therefore no.

I will take a look and get back to you…

Just want to say thank you, I have just finished testing our laptops for exams and this software is a joy to set up and use.

Thank you for your kind words!

I have now created a dialog that will allow any of the common formats to be selected by default without have to mess with the drop down filter list.

BMP, EMF, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, TIF, TIFF, WMF

I’m hoping to get other formats in soon like HEIC etc.. but they need a little more work.

These are now done, 9 question-based message boxes in total and will be available in the next version of EWP.

Another small issue, if you start EWP, then straight away close the candidate details screen using the task bar, then close the main window. It asks if you want to save, I put no, it tries to save anyway. Doesn't happen if I first fill in the Candidate Details screen and click Save and Exit

Also why is it called "Save and Exit"?

Ok I will look into the issue.

It’s called Save and exit, because you are saving the details and exiting the candidate screen, and because the other button is exit.

I’m thinking about the UX now in the longer term so it makes more sense to call the buttons

“Close” and “Save & Continue” or “Save & Close”.

‘Exit’ and ‘quit’ are words associated with exiting the app complete, where as ‘close’ is more subtle.

Is it actually saved to disk at that point?

The candidate details are saved to a variable in the first instance, the variables are then called upon when the document is saved and the variables are written to the ExamText file.

I wouldn't call it save then. Just have Apply and Cancel, with, I guess, the option to disable Cancel if all the fields aren't complete when the window opens

I have now sorted out the issue with the candidate screen and it is now not visible from the taskbar and thus cannot be closed unnecessarily which then causes a knock-on effect.

I can send you the build if you wish to run it, which we are today.

Cheers! We seem to have exams all through the year these days. Our bank of laptops that was initially for booking out for classes turned into ExamWritePad Laptops! Even for internal assessments we have requests for laptops which I guess it good for the students to get use to it. We have quite a few exams (IB, IGCSE, GCSE, A Level, internal ones). Seems like exams last all year round.
