Cthulhu Posted June 7, 2019 Posted June 7, 2019 There's a few new options in the config file, so you will want to recreate the config using the new file.
ass17 Posted June 7, 2019 Author Posted June 7, 2019 If I am upgrading from 2.5.0 to 2.6.0, what files do I need to replace? I guess the .exe.config isn't one of them?! Or do I need to generate the config file each time? All files, as a caution but the config I supply will always have all the defaults in so, in reality leave the config as is and not replace it, unless you need a new option then you can copy/paste the new option into your config file and set accordingly 1
ass17 Posted June 7, 2019 Author Posted June 7, 2019 Sent you a PM. Please can you try the new attached version. I think I have fixed the issue.NHunspellExtenderNEW.rar

ass17 Posted June 10, 2019 Author Posted June 10, 2019 (edited) hmmm, looking at the error generated via "rtbDoc_SelectionChanged" procedure... Please could you replicate the issue? So, I have removed the "rtbDoc_SelectionChanged" from future EWP builds as it now serves no purpose. It was actually slowing down the use of EWP as every that happens on the EWP writing window, whether it be mouse click or key press would call "rtbDoc_SelectionChanged", I think it is a legacy thing that doesn't now need to run. EDIT: In fact I've just realised what it is, if the selected text is bold, italic or underlined then check/depress the mini-toolbar button for each instance of bold, italic or underline. Moving forward I don't see that this is worth doing as if you select text with mixed text including no style text the buttons would not check/depress. So I will continue to remove it for future builds. Edited June 10, 2019 by ass17 1
Cthulhu Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Had another crash to desktop with spell check. This time there was an error in the log file, I'll PM you a link to download it.

ass17 Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 IMPORTANT INFO: If you get issues saving files then please make sure that you do not put a backslash within any field on the Candidate Info screen. EWP would treat it then as part of the path which wouldnt exist. Future builds of EWP will not allow backslashes within the Candidate Info screen. Thanks to Cthulhu for helping discover this...

ass17 Posted June 12, 2019 Author Posted June 12, 2019 Bobby Tables strikes again! Not really, your not supposed to use back slashes in general text when creating files names. And you will be pleased to know that tables are coming in EWP3 [emoji1][emoji1303]
Garacesh Posted June 12, 2019 Posted June 12, 2019 Yeah, okay, it's not quite the same, but it's still an example of not accounting for user input ballsing things up

VXR Posted June 13, 2019 Posted June 13, 2019 Ok thanks, As soon as I’m back from Crete, this Friday, I will investigate. Hi, Just to confirm the problem I was having with the candidate info screen not appearing doesn't happen on the new 2.6 version.
ass17 Posted June 13, 2019 Author Posted June 13, 2019 Hi, Just to confirm the problem I was having with the candidate info screen not appearing doesn't happen on the new 2.6 version. Glad to hear! :-)
ass17 Posted June 14, 2019 Author Posted June 14, 2019 Download Link https://www.sheldnet.co.uk/examwritepad/ExamWritePad_2680.zip or Check for Updates in the Software Change Log CHANGED: The list of Previous Versions is now in reverse order, so that the most recent is at the top of the list, saves you having to scroll through a potentially massive list. FIXED: Issue would arise where upon saving a file that had slashes in either the ‘Subject’, ‘Syllabus Code’, ‘Entry Code’ or ‘Unit/Component Code’ would cause the application to crash as a slash denote a file system delimiter. Slashes have been disabled within all boxes on the candidate information window. REMOVED: "rtbDoc_SelectionChanged" has been depreciated as it was deemed not important and has helped to fractionally improve the overall speed of EWP when the writing window is active. FIXED: When trying to print and the BackupFilePath is set to a UNC location, sometimes EWP would crash on printing with an exception in function OpenXML. This function has now been removed from the printing procedure. ADDED: A threaded Progress window has been added on printing and spell checking so that the end user is informed what is happening and that something IS happening more to the point is there is a long wait between things. CHANGED: The Candidate Information window is now enabled during the printing process with the button ‘Close’ active, so that if a problem does arise while printing, you should be able to exit and try printing again. FIXED: When spell checking, if the word to replace/change was at the end of a captured sentence (Not an actual sentence) then it would throw an exception. This only happened when Change was clicked, not Change All. All being well with this build, this will be the final build for version 2. The new version 3 is now at the end of the planning stage and I'm reviewing the codebase in order to start migrating stuff across where needed. Actual development and testing should start in July, with a first release date for EWP3 sometime in November ready for Mock Exams Dec/Jan. Thanks for using EWP!! 4
Cthulhu Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Just tried the latest version and I can still add backslashes and slashes to the subject, entry code and unit code field.

Cthulhu Posted June 14, 2019 Posted June 14, 2019 Will it be version 3 that you plan to start charging? I will need to give SLT a kick in the bum to buy a license if you do, no way I can go back to manually creating files for 70+ students.

I will need to give SLT a kick in the bum to buy a license if you do, no way I can go back to manually creating files for 70+ students. I’m rewriting it from the ground up, no more here, there and everywhere, squeeze in here..... :-) To be honest, I was thinking to charge a small fee but I can’t be bothered to copy protect my work and build some sort of licensing module. So EWP3 will be free - as long as people love it and pass the message on!! [emoji1303] 6
