Ok folks,

BIG UPDATE NEWS!!

I’ve been beavering away solid for the last month and I’m pleased to say that if all goes well, I’m releasing EWP3 on September 1st.

But before I can do that I need some beta testers to put themselves forward to have a play with it, try and break it, provide as much feedback as you can.

If you want to beta test then drop me an email to [email protected] with subject beta or beta test, so I can filter them easily. Any suggestions or bugs please email them as well. Do not post them here as this thread is massive as it is :-)

Thanks

When will the beta tests be taking place?

I can have a play with it at work, however will be leaving in a few weeks so don't have much time.

The main reason for changing the look and feel was down to the fact that the exam boards do state in their guidence that it should be 'the normal way of working', so based on this, I've replicated it as best I can to what Microsoft Word looks like so it fullfills the exam boards requirements.

I will say it now before someone asks.. :-)

It does make sense. This has been our excuse when a certain department want to give all their kids laptops and screen readers because they think it'll magically get them better marks

So the closer it is, the better.

Thanks for this. I'll be showing this to our exams officer on Monday to get their approval.

A couple of points I've noticed. Setting the Default paths in the config with %HomeDrive%\Documents doesn't seem to expand the %HomeDrive%, it creates a new folder in the start in location (using a shortcut with a start in location of %HomeDrive%%HomePath%) with the folder name '%HomeDrive%'.

Also does ctrl + left or right arrow work to jump to the beginning of the previous / next word?

Thanks again for this.

Thanks for reporting these issues, I have placed them in the bug tracker on the EWP website. I will go ahead and fix them asap, so that I can release a new build of EWP in the first week of October.

Hi Mate,

I'm trying to log a bug on your website but your site seems to think I'm a spam bot. As far as I know I'm not. I mean, what a way to find out...

Cheers, Rob

Post it here for now rob while I investigate.

Hi All,

Is anyone using EWP on an RM network successfully? I have on school that is struggling to run it on there network even with full domain admin access.

Did you have to do anything special to get it to run, please share your knowledge[emoji1]

Thanks

.Net 4.8 installed and logged in as administrator, EWP will not launch.

Using v3

Back in the IT office, we can launch it.

Do you have AppLocker policies on your network? If so make sure you have allowed EWP to run.

Especially if you apply the hashing rule, thus you would need to re-hash the exe file.

What we do here is allow all execution from a specified folder, saves in hazing all the time etc.... it just works

We run it fine on a heavily restricted pupil user account for exams and never had an issue.

If the issue is something else completely different then please run ProccessMon to see what is thrown up that might be stopping EWP from loading.

Also what might be interesting to know is if you download the older 2.6 version from the website, does that still run?

If so then, the .Net4.8 is not the issue. Look closer to GPO restrictions for the answer.

Its not app locker - don't use it. previous version was fine. .Net 3.5 and 4.8 installed. launched on the server prompts for 4.72?

Never had a problem before.

How very strange. What if you you install 4.7.2 then 4.8 afterwards, does that fix the issue? Its worth a try....
