Netman: I got the problem as well. I just used a windows PE disk to fix the problem. The build geoff posted is 3264

Windows XP SP3 has final version of 5.1 and build number 5512 (5.1.2600.5512), a little higher than Windows XP RC2 Refresh (v.5508), but not the speculated build 5573.

The link I gave is the final RTM release (5512). I've only tested it on the one machine so far, but had no problems...

jcs808 was that on a fresh install or one that you've been running for a while?

Been running for a while on a pc in the workshop, installed on top of sp2.

It was the version in the link Geoff posted, so I'll wait until I download the rtm build and try again.

WindowsXP-KB936929-SP3-x86-ENU.exe MD5 hash: bb25707c919dd835a9d9706b5725af58

Anyways my winver returns Build2600.xpsp.080413-2111 : Service Pack 3

I spent most the night and early hours of the morning building a new unattended cd with all the new app's etc... btw no problems as of yet.

Done a windows update and didnt have any software updates other then one .Net Framework Security Update for SP1.

Oh well :/

I downloaded the link Geoff provided, and got the GDI32.dll error.

Just sorted it now.

I posted two versions, the latter post has the correct one. The earlier post with the big red warnings, does not.

So the 316MB one is the correct file?

Indeed it is... there is a 500+Mb ISO and the Windows Update size will be from 70Mb upwards, but the standalone x86 installer that Geoff and I have made available is 316Mb...

Just installed on my VM :)

Will build into new images for the summer methinks, should keep the XP train rolling along for a while yet :D

@Grommit - Because XP SP3 is essentially SP2 + all hotfixes, so there's minimal new functionality. When deploying new workstations it should be a lot easier and faster.

I'm not saying it'll be perfect, and I'm sure SP3 will have some problems (which is why i will test it first).

Does that mean it'll come with WM9, as in SP2 ?
