We've seen this issue but only for a number of users. We use Smoothwall and Sophos and it seems to only affect Edge & Chrome, Firefox looks unaffected.

It's still not applying. I don't know if it's because I've enabled Windows Photo Viewer and am trying to associate file extensions with that or if the content of my text file is in the wrong format.

I messed about with computers as a kid but I was more interested in how they worked rather than how they were used. IT wasn't a job so I trained as an accountant, realised that was boring unless you wanted to be crooked. IT then became a job so I did some proper summer classes and then Uni. Applied for various jobs and got taken on a 9 month contract and I'm still here 20 years later. Started as a wet behind the ears technician and worked up to IT Manager.

Is spanning tree configured correctly. I'm going to sound like I know more than I actually do here but our HP switches have a setting called Configuration Revision Level and we are using MSTP protocol. We currently have a flat network and all switches have to have the same number entered here. Find out what number your core switch is set as and then enter that into your edge switches. This helped us a great deal but I did get some help from one of our suppliers with this. Also, are you using the default lock screen/desktop wallpaper or a custom one. I heard that Windows 10 can do this silly thing where each PC will keep going out to the internet to download the default wallpaper and cause issues.

This is a behaviour issue and should be dealt with according to the school policy, there isn't a technical resolution to everything. I'm not an O365 admin but could you reset the students password then log on and delete the offending material? Having said that I'd be interested if this could be done by an admin.

We chose Google over MS because of Google Classroom. It facilitates one-to-one communication or class wide collaborative work. Submitting and re-submitting (once it's been marked) of assignments without the need to directly email the teacher. If you use it correctly it can also tick the peer assessment box too. Classroom integrates great into each student calendar and (if you enable it) their email. I do wish that the parental engagement part was a bit easier to manage though. I will say that the 3 core MS Office apps are more sophisticated than the Google offerings but they are constantly developing and are more than fine for 95% of what we do as a school.

I think that's correct. You need to enable sharing files outside of your domain and limit it to those whitelisted.

We use it and have it set up so each of our classes is exported from our MIS (we use SalamanderSoft) . Users and groups are synced from AD and we're just starting to migrate our email to GMail. We use Google classroom as a digital store for learning materials and setting homework. It's not fully embedded into the school day but it's a really good set of tools and they're free.

Can File Screens be implemented on a per group basis? As an example, could I block students saving .mp3 files on a volume/folder but allow them for our GCSE/A Level students. Thanks

Hello everyone I'm using the G Suite Migration For Microsoft Exchange tool but am having trouble connecting to our onsite Exchange server and I can't work out what to put in the Hostname/IP address section. Should it be what follows the @ in our email address? Google support have looked at the log files and say that everything should work. Can anyone help? Thanks

We give staff a redirected Start Menu with added shortcuts to SIMS etc. This way the teacher can guide the students and what is shown on the projector is what the pupils have on their computer.

There's an installation video on their website which should help. I am surprised that your local authority didn't know about this software.

It sits between your MIS and the exam boards. We've been using it for years.

Almost the same as 3s-gtech except we don't have any SSDs in our SAN and we allocated 2 sockets with 2 cores each and it all runs fine.

The spares should automatically become part of the active array when a drive fails, this is when their label changes to VDISK.

That's OK. A drive fails in the array so a spare takes it's place. You replace the failed drive and that now becomes the spare which will kick in should another drive fail. When my SAN was installed drives 15 and 16 were spares, now 6 and 11 are the spares.

If you were meaning VDISKSP then leaving it as Global spare is fine. How many disks should be active in your vdisk arrary, and do you have that many in the array?
