Michael Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 That's all very nice, but what if you've already installed SP3 and are getting continuous reboots? The patch is useless. Microsoft should of pulled SP3 and created an SP3a in my opinion. This'll still catch a lot of people out!
cookie_monster Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 Yep it will still cause issues. I imagine if you update through windows update that it will be ok.
Michael Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I would of thought Windows Update (or Microsoft Update as it is now), will detect the HP image and encourage you to patch first, then install SP3. This would work. Too little, too late though
cookie_monster Posted June 11, 2008 Author Posted June 11, 2008 The main problem is that it's not wide enough spread for MS to release an SP3a especially as it's XP and not Vista. It would need to affect millions of boxes before they did that, i still haven't seen this on any of our AMD boxes but i'm sure it's causing a few headaches. As ever with SP's it's a case of test test test.
