Anyone using Corero Resource 32000 on Windows 10?

I had it working on Windows 7 fine but not on 10 and not sure if there are any additional steps required? It loads but just will not let anyone login.

We have just changed the domain name so that maybe the problem but after doing so the server could not login either. Now the server is working again and we can login via the shortcut on the server, I assuming it is working correctly.

We've been using it on W10 for a couple of years now and I don't recall doing anything in particular to make it work.

Assuming you've gone from Windows 7 32bit to Windows 10 64bit, did you make the ODBC connections using C:\Windows\Syswow64\odbcad32.exe?

Turns out it was a SQL permissions issue. I hadn’t set the permissions correctly on the new domain group.

All working now, and can confirm no extra steps needed for Win10

Hello all,

Sorry to resurrect an old post.

My finance team are seeing the UAC prompt when trying to launch resource 32000 since we moved to Windows 10 (over the summer). I have to provide mine \ domain admin credentials to get past this.

Did you have to do anything special to not show UAC or do you have it disabled?

Kind regards, eddyc

Not doing that on my build of Win 10 x64 (1709) with UAC on and all my finance pc’s are on 10. Off-site until Thursday, can find my notes then if it helps?

Yes please that would be amazing.

Sorry, it's a screenshot as I'm on an iPad on Remote Desktop at the mo but this is my setup doc. YMMV as no idea if the clientsetup folder is standard or something I've built....

Let me know if you need more info

Thank you

From that, the only difference that I can see if that our users run the EXE directly from the share rather than the C: drive.

I'll give that a whirl tomorrow and see how we get on.

We have the finance Resource 32000 share set as a trusted location, but that's about it. There should be a pdf/docx (can't remember) install guide in the Resource 32000 share.

Thanks both for that.

I've now added the finance server to the trusted sites but still get the UAC prompt asking for admin credentials when we try to launch it.

Out of interest, if you right click on the EXE, what file version do you have? I wonder if perhaps we are on an older release?

Thanks, eddyc

1) Do your Finance staff have permission to modify the contents of the C:\IQ folder?

2) What does Process Monitor (from Sysinternals / Microsoft) say it's trying to modify when it launches?

I’ve got around this issue by adding them into the local administrators group on their own PCs

Next issue, sending orders out. Resource completely kills over and stops responding. Outlook is set as default mail client and mail to links from IE work fine with Outlook.

Any suggestions would be appreciated

We had problems emailing orders on Win10 1709 had to be 1703 or 1803

Well I am well and truly baffled now.

We are on 1803 throughout.

But I have come home tonight and had a quick look on the VPN at one of the finance PCs.

Logged in as a member of the finance team. No UAC prompt (and they aren't in the local admins group on that PC either) so that seems to have gone away. At the same time, emailing a purchase order worked and it sent!

I have obviously been having a few crazy weeks with regard to resource and imagining issues! They all seem to have sorted themselves out now!

Thanks for the help everyone.

Cheers eddyc

Sorry to :bump: an old thread...

We're experiencing issues, similar to what @eddyc had, as in everything is working except when attempting to "Email Order".

Upon pressing "Email Order", Corero R32000 connects, and opens up a pre-populated email along with details of order etc. Except that the To: field has multiple entries of SMTP, then we get a 'Server Busy' error prompt - The action cannot be completed because the other program is busy. Choose "Switch To" to activate the busy program and correct the problem.

The only way to progress from this error, is by ending the "FIXMAPI 1.0 MAPI Repair Tool" via Task Manager, which allows you to get past the warning prompt. But even if you correct the 'email to' field, and attempt to click send, we get a another warning box "Cannot send this item". Meaning the only way to send an order via email, is to compose a brand new email, and copy & paste the content across etc.

What a shocking piece of software...

Any suggestions welcome (I have already logged a call with CIVICA yesterday, but still waiting for an update)

This is using Windows 10 21H2 and Office 365

Thanks,

Thanks,

Funny you should post this, we've had a similar issue that I've been working on this month with a Civica Technical Lead. To his credit, he was very responsive and answered my questions, but couldn't provide a solution for everything as explained below.

Our issues are also with 'E-mail Order' and Microsoft 365/Office 365 apps. We didn't have as many issues with Microsoft Office 2016. This is what we've had so far:

  1. When you click the ‘E-mail order’ button on a PO/enquiry, the content of the email is added to the email (which is visible before sending) but after it’s sent, the recipient has a blank email.
If we change the email formatting from HTML to 'Rich Text' then the email sends as expected with content visible for the recipient.
  2. When you send as a shared mailbox, it will not work if you have an auto-mapped shared mailbox and use the 'From' dropdown to send as that shared mailbox. It has to be added as a separate Outlook account or it will fail to send.
  3. Although we do have Outlook 365 set as the default email client, we get the following prompt every single time when clicking ‘E-mail order’:
    R32000 Outlook Default Client Error.png
  4. We too get the recipient prepended with "smtp:", but do not have any issues with 'server busy'
  5. The R32000 SMTP config is in '\Data\Settings\RADIOParams.ini' but R32000 does not support authenticated SMTP so a mail relay or O365 direct send is required

While troubleshooting the blank email issue, I discovered that on the server that R32000 is installed, when clicking 'E-mail order', it'll generate a .htm file (which also has outdated DOCTYPE's and HTML with many syntax/formatting issues) in to a '\Data\Spooled\Live\' folder. This is never cleared out so has PO's dating back many years. We've since setup a Scheduled Task to delete these regularly.

There is a fix for the "smtp:" bug, which apparently, is a deliberate 'feature'. You can delete the SMTP from the R32000 registry key EMAILPREFIX. The EMAILPREFIX reg key can be found inside the database.

  1. Log in to R32000
  2. Go to System Control -> System -> Maintenance -> Registry Maintenance (need permissions to access this screen)
  3. Search on KEY and type EMAILPREFIX
  4. You will see a key with that name and when open, you can delete the smtp: in the data field

As for the Outlook issues, the program/code that R32000 uses to integrate with Outlook is called 'IQ Objects'. Civica do not have an access to it's code. IQ Objects is a dedicated language (just like i.e. C#, Python). The issue being that it cannot be edited or maintained as it was wrote by a single person who left years ago. Which I assume means that some of these Outlook issues cannot be fixed without a complete rewrite in a different programming language.

The core R32000 code hasn't been updated since 2019, other than the MTD (Making Tax Digital) patches in 2020/21. They don't currently plan to develop it further besides bug fixes/legal changes, but have no plans to end-of-life the product. There are also no plans to have Financials Live (their Cloud offering) replace it, so it sort of leaves us in a bit of a limbo. Granted, they do have a dedicated support team and developer for it.

I'd also be wary of having their web portal exposed to the internet. As it's a web portal with access to a financial database I asked for information on security reviews/testing of it's code which they were not able to provide..

Thanks @georgeescott for the information! Extremely helpful - even though I don't think, from the sounds of things, its fixable!(?)

Can I assume that your school is still using Corero?

So, Civica claim they still support it (which is good from a Cyber Essentials requirement) but they won't or are unable to update it to support current version of software??? Meaning that I may have to resort to using Office 2016 to make it work???

Perhaps Finance Dept. need to start looking for updated / supported software!

One week on, and still no response or update in relation to my support ticket with Civica.....

Tried phoning, after 3 different phone numbers managed to locate the correct one for support. Got through to an automated message stating no support calls via telephone and to use the support portal instead. Followed by the phone line automatically cutting off... :censored:

Managed to speak with Network Manager in a nearby school who also uses Corero R32000 on Windows 10, and despite some initial issues it is working - though they are only using Office 2016 (appears to be a common theme, as @georgeescott mentioned).

However, MS Office 2016 Mainstream support ended on 13th October 2020 - so I don't want to use older / unsupported software either....
