Never Eat Shredded Wheat. For some reason I have to think a bit to work out which was is east and which is west, and that one is what runs through my head. North & south and left & right I have no problems with!

We were told necessary was "never eat chips, eat salad sandwiches and remain young"

Variations on this are just below in the same thread.

Aha. Didn't click it as you said NSFW :)

No problem. :thumb:

As an aside: I was never taught these little helpful spelling assists. Could be why my spelling is so terrible these days?

SOHCAHTOA stays with me for trigonometry calculations in maths decades after I last used it in anger (which was after I left school... my sister was making a three legged stool... )

I learned SOHCAHTOA as well but have no real understanding of what it means. I can just about remember what it stands for but that is about all.

Our version of SOHCAHTOA was Two Old Aunts Sat On High Chairs And Howled. I think it's more memorable if it paints a single picture.

SOHCAHTOA was enough for us to remember it, "Sock a tower", S = Sin, C = Cos, T = Tangent... no idea what the OH/AH/OA means though! Something to do with angles

SOHCAHTOA is helpful when trying to determine an unknown quantity of a right-angled triangle View it not as one long string, but as three groups of three characters:

I was tutoring a boy who had his own version... Silliness On Holiday Causes A Headache, Take One Aspirin

Let's just say the word he used wasn't actually 'Silliness' and, as his science tutor, we spent some time discussing how Aspirin was NOT a substitute for adequate contraception!

Every Good Boy Deserves Food (names of notes found on the lines of a treble clef stave)

There's also "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour" which I find easier to remember given that it's also the title of a Moody Blues album.

Wait a moment... I thought that was the bass cleft stave? Nope, I am confusing the names while doing other things. ;)

I remember it as Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge... but I rarely get given any. :(...

Or remember the spaces which is FACE (which is easy to remember).

I believe the trebleThe bass clef stave is GBDFA (Good Boys Deserve Fudge ALWAYS)... still no fudge here. :( Or ACEG (ACE Girl!) for the spaces. At least that's how I remember them.

Nah, treble clef is EGBDF going upwards.

Bass clef is AFDBG going down, which would then be GBDFA (Good Boys... )as you say, going upwards.

Some of these rely on you remembering them correctly, and therefore aren't inherently robust. For instance, I'm so useless at music that I've remembered from some early piano lessons "Every Good Boy Deserves Apples", which I think is wrong. If it's wrong, that hasn't prevented it from sticking in my mind.
