so someone wants to make a homemade balloon/rocket to go 68 miles up ok then baumgartner went less than 25 and an sr71 blackbird can only go about 19 so good luck with that (not to mention hes going to need a space suite just to survive the pressure never mind temp /lack of air) and lifting a rocket on a balloon sounds an interesting idea until you work out just how much weight that would be the balloon needs to carry and the materials involved (i doubt its possible to create a balloon big/light enough to carry a rockets weight to a useful altitude and provide a stable launch surface not to mention the upwards thrust of the rocket would i assume push the "launch platform" down (not an issue on the ground as its orders of magnitude heavier than a rocket but on a flying raft at a guess a major issue unless you want to just release the rocket and hope the engine fires 1st time)) if it was as simple as that im sure Elon Musk/nasa would of tried it by now as its got to be cheaper than a plain rocket

It has been done for decades (tbf with a plane rather than a balloon) X15 etc. And the heavy lift balloon at Cardington could carry a big 🚀. Yeah, there's scope.

It depends how big of a rocket you want.

 

Most of a rockets weight is fuel, and 95% of the fuel is used to escape the lower and upper atmospheres of Earth. If you were just using a large enough sounding-rocket to lift a person attached to a rocket, you'd just need a balloon heavy enough to carry the payload (A person) and the rocket+fuel. There's a difference between a several-dozen tonne payload of metal and fuel and one bloke from Nevada. Just makes me think of Larry Walters, who did the same thing as this guy except made it 16,000 feet with balloons alone:

to be fair 2 plus 2 does equal 5 - you just need to stop believing the biased science community and look at the facts from a different viewpoint

how come when you look into the sky using a telescope, all of the other planets are globes? or are they all circles that happen to be facing us face-on ?

It's exactly like that, just like the trees in a 3D PS1 game. Problem is, if two viewers look at them from two places at once, they can't decide which one to face and explode.
