sted Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Has anyone seen an offer for a 12 month Xbox Live Gold subscription at all? Usually on Black Friday/CM you can pick them up for about £24. The cheapest I've seen so far was £33 this year it went up earlier in the year by £5 iirc so might be the best you get but there are some games out there that are being bundled with live subs might be cheap enough to buy and trade in the game (or sell it on to someone)
JJonas Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 If yours is expiring they usually put an offer tile on your Dashboard. I renewed mine for £26.50 not so long back. The cheapest I've seen so far was £33 this year Best I saw on HUKD was £30.90 (or around that atleast) from a site similar to CDKeys- but it was a Brazil-region code so needed to be specially redeemed. I thought for an extra £2 it was worth getting it from Amazon tbh. When the Amazon price goes back up it'll probably be CDKeys (with the 5% facebook discount code) that'll be cheapest. 1

Ta, I did use HUKD and saw them but as you say, are suspicious of 'deals' where you have to jump through hoops. Mines not due for renewal until early Jan so will hang on to see if there are any new year sales offers.

Got the BF GAME £25 12 months last year which expires today for me. Luckily got 3 months free XBL with the Xbone bundle I bought a couple of weeks back though. Will see me through to January sales but still get the feeling I'll be forking out ~£35 this year
flyinghaggis Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 I notice there are some pretty good discounts on the Kindle Fire Tablets and E-Readers. I've been mulling over buying a dedicated E-Reader (like the PaperWhite which is currently on offer for £80) for reading tech guides and books. I thought it would be easier on my eyes than staring at a screen for hours on end since I spend enough time doing that at work. I'm not sure whether an e-ink reader is actually any better than a glossy tablet like the Fire tablet which would be more flexible since it can handle videos/apps/etc. Has anyone else bought a Kindle PaperWhite and if so would you recommend it? Or does it make more sense to just get a 7-8" Android tablet?
sted Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 @flyinghaggis yes e-ink screens are much much easier on the eyes than a monitor/tablet but after a few years of doing everything on my gen 3 kindle the last books ive bought have all been paper ones though it beats carrying round the bricks that are ms manuals (point to note most of the books ive read recently have been fairly picture heavy and i do read a lot less than i used to) but my kindle now normally just says flat and i cant remember the last time i used it 1
flyinghaggis Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 ... my kindle now normally just says flat and i cant remember the last time i used it Had a look at one in my local store but it didn't seem noticeably easier on the eyes than a regular tablet to me so I have a feeling that, like you say, it wouldn't get much use if I bought one. Probably better just to get a regular android tablet from first impressions. I did cave into the sales frenzy and buy an Amazon fire TV stick for £25 though. Fed up streaming prime video to my Chromecast over a Google chrome tab and dont want the hassle of Amazon underground on my phone!

The difference between the screens is probably most noticeable in direct sunlight. For long-form reading, especially on holiday, an e-ink screen is my preference by some way (even over paper, where you can often see print showing through from the other side).

caffrey Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 I bought my 1080ti.... Was a good deal I suppose in this current climate
NB9457 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 I bought the 200 Piece black socket set from Halfords
sted Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 So, with both days over, did anyone get any good deals? i almost bought the bluetooth version of the mouse i currently have to free up a usb port on my laptop (it has 2 1 is always the mouse receiver which can be annoying but decided £40 was too much to fix that lol)
flyinghaggis Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 (edited) Picked up an Anker Vertical Ergonomic wireless mouse in the sale yesterday for £10 as I've been finding I'm getting pain in my hand/wrist from using a regular one all day. Hopefully this will alleviate it or at least allow me to mix and match between this and a regular flat one to vary my grip and position. Edited November 28, 2017 by flyinghaggis
hardtailstar Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Logitech MX master mouse for £39.99 instead of about £80. I also got Google Wifi but not sure it was a cyber monday sale but John Lewis had a two pack much cheaper then anywhere else.
Dos_Box Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 I got the Switch/Mario Odyssey bundle (thanks @ZeroHour for the heads-up), two LED torches, two USB battery packs and other small pressies for the kids. All stuff I was meaning to get anyway, so not exactly impulse buying.

hardtailstar Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 thats the mouse i nearly bought lol Its been in my wish list for a while in amazon hoping it would go down but I nearly missed it as the wishlist price was still £80 but clicking on it the price was cheaper!
Garacesh Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Only tech thing I'm vaguely interested in right now would be a proper drawing tablet (i.e. a fancy touch-screen monitor with a stylus) but even with BF/CM considered, they're bloomin' expensive. 'bout £400 minimum. I'll stick to pencil and paper for now 'eh?
thimon Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Bought the Dungeons & Dragons starter set, eeeep!
Dos_Box Posted November 30, 2017 Author Posted November 30, 2017 Bitdefender have 60% off until December the 6th. I've just bought their 5 device Total Security Suite for £24.99 which is a total bargain compared to the usual price of £59.99 - https://www.bitdefender.co.uk/solutions/

HTCPCP Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Bit late, but got myself an AMD 560 4GB Graphics card for £90 down from 130, and a new 24" secondary monitor for £84 - Its not feature rich, but does the job and fits on the wall mount I have for it!
