Dan_ATR Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Hi, We currently have some paid for software named MyCloud Backup which does not seem to do deduplication for VMs which is some what disapointing. Do you know of any other software that will do Hyper-V VM backup to NAS with depuplication but also will allow us to backup 2 VMs to paid cloud storage?
vizubeat Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Veeam or Nakivo, depending on available dollarydoos.
Dan_ATR Posted October 12, 2017 Author Posted October 12, 2017 Veeam is far too expencive unfortunitly. Im looking around the £1000 mark to backup 10 VMs to NAS and 2 of them to the cloud.
hallb15 Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 Altaro have a special offer on at the moment. Their 'unlimited plus' version now does backup to Azure. https://www.altaro.com/vm-backup/backup-to-azure.php
keyboards Posted October 12, 2017 Posted October 12, 2017 We've got Acronis which is fine but prefer Veam
DSapseid Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Would recommend Redstor, especially after i recovered all my data after the school burnt down last summer!! See here http://www.edugeek.net/forums/general-chat/173744-someone-fancied-brand-new-network-fire-west-sussex-school.html 2
Dan_ATR Posted October 13, 2017 Author Posted October 13, 2017 Moved to a more appropriate forum Thanks.... Also you need a Forum Category for Backup
elsiegee40 Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Thanks.... Also you need a Forum Category for Backup @ZeroHour? Suggested forum category for backups? They're available in both cloud and non cloud varieties these days
ZeroHour Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Also you need a Forum Category for Backup @ZeroHour? Suggested forum category for backups? They're available in both cloud and non cloud varieties these days I will have a think, initially I would use the Enterprise Software forum but I will see what we can do. 1
nicholab Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 I have to say that I am using veeam end point and I have 230 days backup on disk of the file server and the sims server. Then I duplicate to tape but you could do that to cloud. I also use veeam free version to do VM backups.
