mikkydoos Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 (edited) Hi all, I'm looking to do an upgrade of Smart Notebook to 17.1 and am having bother with the serial number I have. The serial worked on all versions up to 2013 that I've tried. We have old Smart 680 boards. Should I be able to license the newest version (17.1) with serials from those boards? Cheers in advance EDIT: OK so they've changed their licensing structure. I can apparently run Notebook in limited mode after a trial expires but in the meantime get the screen nag asking for a license key. Edited September 28, 2017 by mikkydoos
Techykev Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Yes the latest version you can activate using the board Ser Number is Dec 2013, V11.4 Any version after this date requires you to purchase a license from Smart. You can use the later drivers & Smart ink with the older Notebook software though, just need to uninstall the old drivers first and download the later ones (found I had to do this to fix some issues with Smart ink & Powerpoint slideshows at my last place of work). 1
CraigM Posted October 2, 2017 Posted October 2, 2017 I think SMART went this way in order to guarantee themselves an ongoing revenue stream. That being said, there's not a terribly huge difference between Notebook 11.4 and 17 that I've seen. Performance and cosmetic changes aside, the 2 are largely interchangeable, with perhaps the maths tools being the most notable improvement. At least they haven't cut off too many older products and still provide drivers for them. Most of my school is still running on 680 series boards.

Does anyone have a download link for 11.4 - we've only got 11.1 and I believe our licence key covers us for up to 11.4 but can't find a link for it. Cheers
