Went into the butchers yesterday and asked for an asteroid pie. Butcher: "What's an asteroid pie?" Me: "Like the one you sold me yesterday, but a bit meteor"

UNISON sent me the following this morning, though its also open for non-union members to complete. National survey of technicians https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScKuXAxdaOB1YDEA72arQKN9XwXsAbvnz4UDMXLWIKbNXWtdw/viewform Preproom.org, UNISON and Technical Champions in association with #TECHOGNITION have today launched a national survey of technicians working in UK secondary schools, sixth forms and FE colleges. In order for us to continue to raise the profile of technicians and help them receive the recognition they deserve, it is important to better understand the challenges technicians face in their roles, to identify areas in which they need better support and ultimately use that information to shape the assistance and resources we and our associates provide. If you are a technician in a UK school or college, your participation in this survey is very much appreciated. By taking the time to share your experiences, you will be helping us create a detailed snapshot of the technician landscape in 2024. To participate, simply click on the survey link provided below. The survey should take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. https://msg.unison.org.uk/c/1gCmxNpL5Lvm0QnylVJRrTEO98u Please share the survey with your technician colleagues and encourage them to take part. Non-UNISON members can complete the survey too, so please share as widely as possible. If you have any questions regarding the survey, please feel free to reach out to [email protected]. This survey will close on Sunday 25 February 2024 and the results will be revealed on Friday 8 March 2024 - #TECHOGNITION day - which UNISON are proud to sponsor each year.

I do quite like going away on holiday, except for the 50% of the time when there is nothing to do. I suppose its my own fault for booking half-bored.

Sigh, How come we don't make anything in this country anymore? Just got a new telly and it says "Built in Antenna" - I don't even know where that is!

The Wildlife (and Gardening for Wildlife) thread

Speaking of peregrines, last Thursday evening me and my better half were eating our tea when we heard something in the rear garden. On glancing through the kitchen window there was a hawk sitting on a dead, (well I hope it was), pigeon spreading feathers all over the lawn. As it seemed to be enjoying its meal we left it to it while we finished our own meal. Afterwards I had the pleasant job of clearing the mess from the lawn, only feathers and the head was left, it must have taken the carcass with it. Pretty sure it was a peregrine and there are peregrines roosting in nearby Cromer (on the church steeple). https://www.cromerperegrineproject.co.uk/live-cams -

Did try this several years ago, the posters were ignored. Didn't seem to help reduce the number of calls about computers not logging in as far as I could tell.
