Well, as an update to this - we ended up going with Ricoh.

We've ordered a Pro 8200SE, Pro 5200S and 6 MP C306ZSPF machines. Copy prices 0.21p, 0.49p/2.0p, 0.29p/2.6p in that order. Pretty good imo. We end up paying less than we're paying now each year.

Annoyingly I was only told after I did some sums on the CANON LOT site that we are tied in for 3 more years... I worked out we would save almost 6 grand swapping.

We went back to our supplier who has knocked .6p off per colour and we get papercut installed as part of the deal. Taking the .6p cut we would still save 2 grand.

Just watch if the prices are per printed page or per impression. the industry likes to use per impression, because pricing is impressive, the black cost is exactly that as it is one impression, but the colour cost is 4 times per page...

Probably teaching granny to suck eggs, but worth mentioning :)

Its per page, includes all staples etc... All under a govt framework.

I tend to go mostly with Sharps - bit more expensive than Cannon, but seems more reliable. In the council I am a member of, they have 2 Cannon MFPs, One is absolutely fine, the other does not like anything except DataCopy paper without jamming (including other premium brand paper). Neither Cannons are massive use printers - one is in a Tourist Info Centre, and the other is in the council offices mainly for printing agendas and associated papers, and the end of month finance reports , but if I remember correctly the last time I was asked to have a look at it, it had managed to rack up the best part of 40k pages since new (probably around 10 months or so), and the engineer had to be called out twice on issues, and had been out 5 or 6 times to try and sort the paper jamming issue.
