Hi All,

Wondering if you could help us, all computers have been upgraded to Windows 10 1511 and since now for printers deployed via GP they will appear on one computer start up and then next time not show again so you have to restart the computer again.

This worked in Win 7, has anyone else seen this and do they have any ideas?

Kind Regards

Following.

I've been searching for a solution for this for over a month now, I've read that uninstalling an update can do it, but I'm running the anniversary edition as a fresh install, and can't uninstall it. :/

Thank you so much for your reply. Out of interest what printers is it you have deployed via GP. We are wondering if its a driver related issue?

I've been trying to deploy a Ricoh C5503 and a Brother HL-4150CDN, but neither seem to deploy on there own.

I have to manually install the drivers on each computer before they come up.

Another article I've read mentions the update tightens security immensely, requiring all drivers to be package aware and also be made for Windows 10 exclusively.

So far I have not found these types of drivers for my printers.

I have tried approving my print server in a GPO as a Point and Print server, but still no luck for me.

Ours are currently various Xerox machines that have the issue, its strange that the printers will be there on one startup and then on the next re-start they arent.

Are the drivers made for Windows 10 or an earlier version?

I changed something in the registry for the drivers to deploy and it works fine for all drivers. Not an official fix but it works for me.

I'll post what I changed when I get in to work.

Should also say that I'm using Windows 7 drivers in a 2008 R2. (Drivers work fine for me on Windows 10 1607 including a brother HL-4140, 2150 and other printer.

Interested in this registry fix. I am still having problems with deploying printers.

My drivers are correctly signed, I have point and print disabled, tried manually installing drivers first, tried logon script, computer gpo, user gpo. I get users report that no printer has been installed whatever I do!

Anything else I can try?

All i did way:

Regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Drivers\Version-3

Find the driver that is not deploying.

Look at "PrinterDriverAttributes" Your see its an even Number (normally 4) I changed mine to 5 and it started deploying.

*Please try this at your own risk. Make sure backups work*

Thanks for this but my drivers are all odd numbers already.

Really losing my patience with printers now!

Any other ideas?

What printers are these? Are you using 64 or 32bit computers?

As above, I wrote some guidance on this not long ago here. In addition though, I would say I've had considerably less issues with Printers deploying Windows 10 1607 (Redstone).

Also there's considerably less (if at all) of an issue when it comes to printer name duplication, for no apparent reason.

1511 really is a 'bodge' of the original OEM version. 1607 is much more polished.

Has anyone managed to figure this out yet? We've been running Windows 10 (1511) all over the site since September with no issues at all, but all of a sudden the printers are disappearing. Some machines will pick it up, but then won't at the next logon.

This is becoming extremely annoying!

The printers are all 64 bit.

Thanks for the advice regarding 1511/1607. I have updated our image to 1607 and will update our classrooms over the break. Will report back then if it has improved things.
