If I understand, Team Drive might make life easier for schools who have default folder areas such as Teachers or pupils etc, I could be wrong but if a file is put in a team folder area the person who created it has shared ownership rather than it being that persons document, so if they leave a department that file stays in the team drive folder. Its more like a hosted server system.

I could be completely wrong but thought I would post

Didn't Google used to say how Team \ Shared areas were dead and their method of individual file storage was the way forward? All that is old becomes new again :p

We have gone O365 but we find that although OneDrive uses SharePoint in the back end when you need to do the more advanced tasks that need SharePoint for real then things get messy. What is the best way to implement a good old fashioned shared drive in O365 ideally with everyone able to save easily from Word Excel like you can with mapped drives? The new O365 groups seems to be the answer to most needs. Have heard of the IAMCLOUD drivemapper but not sure if we need that or not?

Thank you for applying for the Google Team Drives Early Adopter Program (EAP). Unfortunately, because you do not meet the stated requirements for participation, we're unable to include your organization in the Team Drives EAP at this time. [/Quote]

@jmak - How many users do you have? We applied and got through based on 1200 students and 150 staff accounts. Not sure what the real criteria is to be accepted.

40ish staff + governor's + 300ish kids. I went back and looked on the registration page and think I met everything that's obvious...

I guess I'll just have to wait.

The domain I have Team Drives enabled on is relatively new and currently only has < 10 users and a few Chromebooks. Very strange!

I'm reluctant to sign up and start using team drive due to the lack of vault support. Have any of you ensured that users know this current limitation or are you all just playing with it at the moment?

We are just using it for testing. Although I have let management know that its an Early Release so will change over time and that there is no Vault support.

Just playing too. I don't mind being a guinea pig. :)

I turned down the survey - maybe that was my mistake....

I took a guess that very few of our staff would respond but quite a few would ask me what was going on, so I'd rather not. Oh well.

Also just received the survey email, but I'm like you @jmak - I don't think many will fill it out

I don't know how many in my school filled it out but I sent it to them and I know at least 6 did.
