Toner Recycling - Wheelie Bin

Hi All,

 

I'm after a service where someone will send me a wheelie bin that can be kept outside, I ring them when it's full and they come and get them. Not fussed about getting money for the toners but certainly don't want to pay for the service. I specifically don't want one of the million people who send cardboard boxes and arrange for a courier to come as and when they feel like it.

 

Any recommendations would be great. Thanks.

You could ask the people you buy them from

 

As far as I remember from a previous school - when the cardboard box broke they were happy to take them away in a bin liner - which could easily have been in a wheelie bin

you just need to find one that comes when they say

We have brother and HP

Brother get sent back to them via Royal Mail

HP send us a box, we fill it, we organise for them to pick it up and they do so promptly

We have it as part of our printing contract. The printing company supply us with pre-paid postage labels and we leave them at our reception where we have a daily pickup of any post.

Thanks for the input all. I really want something that can go round the back of the site and just get collected when it's full and not clog up the place in the meantime. That's how we operate our WEEE and it works really well. The search continues....

We use First Mile for our general waste and recyling collection, so as an add-on to that service they will provide a large bin liner to put toners in, which they will then come and pick up on demand. It does cost around £30 per bag, but that should take a good few toners. It rather depends on your current rubbish handler, though, as to whether they offer anything similar.

Just been informed by another local school that enviroelectronics provide lockable bins. A few other local schools to us are inquiring about them. Enviro Electronics - FREE IT Disposal Service Doncaster, Scunthorpe, Sheffield, North linconshire, Grimsby, Leeds,

 

Here is what a mate of mine said (hope he doesnt mind me posting this)...

They provide lockable outdoor storage units. These are just normal 1100 litre general waste bins which they have modified to have lockable lids. When its full you ring them they take it way, provide a disposal inventory and data destruction certificate. All for free.... except you agree to pay them £190 for each bin IF it goes missing.

 

They also do a smaller 700 litre bin if you dont want one of the huge ones as well as indoor cages.

 

Ill be speaking with my site manager later to see if he's ok with this. IF so, we will be inquiring.

Just inquired to these.

 

They collect the toners for free but they don't like it to be toners overall as they make a loss on them. The cage / bin has to have IT equipment in it as well averaged out. Makes sense so they can make some money I suppose.

I use enviroelectronics for weee stuff. Didn't know they took toners too. That's brilliant then. Thanks!

 

EDIT- Just to say that enviroelectronics are easily the best WEEE company i've ever used. Zero work for us other than putting the stuff in the bin and emailing them to say it's full. They send a fully documented report with serial numbers and HDD destruction certificates.

Not quite what you are after, but I use Welcome | Clover Environmental Solutions Ltd , they send me a box, I fill it and when ready I ask them to collect, it's normally gone with 48 hours.

Before we went centralised printing, we used TakeBack. They provided us with a free box to put toners in. Brother toners/drums could be worth a couple of quid each, and as long as their were 20 items, we could also put HP toners in there which were worth a penny each.
