Watched this last night, It felt like normal Top Gear on tour.

 

I still enjoyed it.

TalkTalk boost UK network capacity by 100Gbps for ‘The Grand Tour’

 

UK ISP TalkTalk has revealed that they’ve had to add an additional 100Gbps (Gigabits per second) of data capacity to their network just to help cope with any extra load being generated by Amazon Prime’s new TV show, The Grand Tour (aka – Top Gear, but not on the BBC).

 

Internet video and TV streaming services, such as Netflix, NOW TV and Amazon Prime, have become increasingly common over the past few years. As a result online video content now accounts for around 60-70% of all Internet traffic (depending upon which study you read), so it’s not surprising that broadband ISPs need to keep an eye on developments.

 

As such TalkTalk has predicted that “tens of thousands” of their broadband customers could be watching the show when it "airs" every Friday, which is likely to reflect a mix of HD (High Definition) and Ultra HD (4K) quality streams. All told they’ve added another 100Gbps just for TGT, as well as an extra 100Gbps to cover general increases.

And yet they are still pants, and I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole!

 

Back on topic - Thought it was quite good. You could tell that it wasn't shot on a BBC budget. Just hope that the clips we saw turn out as good as they look and it's not a movie style trailer - i.e. You've just seen all the best bits.

I watched it over the weekend a thoroughly enjoyed it, I thought the opening sequence was really good and have to say I almost had a tear in my eye as May and Hammond pulled up along side Jezza to the sound of I can see clearly now. It's hard not to compare it to Top Gear but TG really does just feel like a cheap knock off of The Grand Tour.

Best show I've seen this year. There were a few elements which I thought were over-egged a bit, and it will take a while for the 'new' ideas to settle with their audience but overall it was brilliant. It's basically it's an hour-long middle finger to the BBC! Can't wait until this Friday's episode now.
