Now that the BBC will not be showing it, which of the remaining channels should show it do you think? Probably the one that would make the fewest changes to the format.

 

I think Channel4 is favourite if this is allowed to be a determining factor.

My fear is that it will leave terrestrial channels possibly for the internet

The Daily Mail reckon ITV (but they could just be making that up :) ).

It's going to be awful with ad breaks every five minutes. :(

 

 

Edit. In an earlier Daily Mail article they mentioned that Mary and Paul don't want to go to ITV. I bet for £21,000,000 they would! :eek:

BBC news just said it is going to Channel 4

Great, just what I wanted, adverts and I assume they will shorten the show to fit it within the hour.

Apparently Sky owns 70% of Love Productions that makes GBBO

 

Reading between the lines of news articles I've read, the production company went in with a high amount they wanted for the show and the BBC were not prepared to pay it and made a counter offer.

They only did it because they knew the other channels would willingly spend more. It was a monetary decision by the production company - nothing else.

 

I suppose you can't blame them, but the BBC truly can't be held to ransom. It has to give in when the price gets too high.

 

It won't be the same with ads :(

Just heard on the radio that they wanted 25 Million for it but the BBC would only pay 15 Million for it.

 

It wont be the same. Just like when they started showing The Simpsons......

It's a shame, but lets see what they do with it before we judge.

 

They'd be foolish to to change the presenting lineup as that's one of the things that make it so popular. Likewise the hour runtime. I can't see it being successful over 42 minutes, so expect it to run for an hour and a half with half an hour of ads.

 

Looks like a record and fast-forward program come 2017...

I'm quite fond of using catchup downloads for ITV programs. You get a clear break between the segments as if they're about to start the ads, but no ads. You just let it play straight through. No messing round with fast forward

It works a treat. We watched all of Dave Gorman's Modern Life is Goodish on the Dave catch-up via SkyGo. No adverts at all! :cool:

Great British Bake Off: Mel and Sue to quit as hosts

 

Sue Perkins and Mel Giedroyc will step down as hosts of The Great British Bake Off when it moves to Channel 4.

 

The duo have fronted the show since it began on BBC Two in 2010, alongside judges Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood.

 

A joint statement said: "We were very shocked and saddened to learn yesterday evening that Bake Off will be moving from its home.

 

"We made no secret of our desire for the show to remain where it was... we're not going with the dough."

 

The statement continued: "The BBC nurtured the show from its infancy and helped give it its distinctive warmth and charm, growing it from an audience of two million to nearly 15 at its peak.

 

Probably the first of many. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

 

It was announced on Monday evening that the new home of the the show would be Channel 4.

 

It will begin airing the programme in 2017, starting with a celebrity special in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.
