I like both, but they're just not... bake off enough! Agree with you Elsiegee40 Pru will be good I like her on GBM (cannot stand Oliver that was with her on GBM!), Noel Fielding is a bit of a random one I cannot take him seriously as he's always the clown in anything he does, guess they are hoping hes Sue and Mel rolled into one.

Makers Love Productions fear Channel 4’s appointment of the former drug user will risk the show’s popularity among children and grandparents. Stars including Dawn French, Jennifer Saunders and Jamie Oliver rejected the presenting job, viewed as "toxic" now the show has left the BBC. A Bake Off source revealed: “A lot of people at Love Productions are worried about what Channel 4 is going to do with their show. “Noel is going to turn off a lot of the family viewing that made Bake Off such a favourite. “But this is the risk of selling off a national treasure to the highest bidder.” The Mighty Boosh star and QI’s Sandi Toksvig will replace Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, with Davina McCall and Kate Quilton also among the stars to say no. A Bake Off insider explained: “Noel and Sandi are an odd combination and they certainly weren’t top of the list — or even tenth on the list. “Channel 4’s most loyal presenters were not interested. There was talk that replacing Mel and Sue was a toxic proposition.” Noel, 43, was only picked after The Last Leg co-presenter Josh Widdicombe, 33, rejected the role at the last minute. Channel 4 chief creative officer Jay Hunt, who secured the deal to poach Bake Off from the BBC in a £75 million move, is said to have been behind the surprise signing.

Hell-raiser isn't how I would describe Noel either, but this article is from The Sun so some of it is probably made up. Perhaps they are thinking back to when he had a drink and drugs problem over a decade ago? 1

Britain's Best Cook will be broadcast on BBC One and presented by Claudia Winkleman. The BBC said 10 contestants will compete across eight episodes, serving meals that reflect both the modern and classic dishes of British home cooking. Berry said: "I am never more at home than when I have my judging hat on." She continued: "This series is going to encourage proper home cooking, which I have always championed and I cannot wait to start. Claudia, for me, is the icing on the cake." The 82-year-old will be joined by a second judge - but their identity hasn't yet been revealed. ^ Britain’s Best Cook has the same acronym as the channel it's on.

Arthur Posted October 31, 2017 Posted October 31, 2017 The Great British Bake Off: Channel 4's gamble has paid off The decision by Channel 4 to bid for Bake Off was widely interpreted in the industry as reckless, naive, hubristic - or some combination of all three. Conventional thinking has a habit of being wrong. It also has a seductive appeal. It is absolutely true that Channel 4 was taking a huge punt in buying the show without three quarters of its stars. That is why the reward they are now getting must taste particularly good. Ratings success The numbers are, to those in Horseferry Road, where Channel 4 is still headquartered, the stuff of dreams. TV viewing figures now come in at least two groups - mainly the overnights and consolidated. In overnights, the show is getting around six million viewers. In terms of consolidated reach - the number of people who see a particular episode over a seven-day period - this rises to 8.9 million. True, this is down from the 13 million the show reached on BBC One. But bearing in mind that BBC One generally gets the biggest audiences in the land, Channel 4 will be chuffed. And especially because in the prized 16-34 demographic (those who apparently are running away from conventional TV), they are scoring 2.5 million viewers - or a whopping 54% of market share.

Same with me. The new series is good, but I can only watch it with all of the adverts stripped out. I wonder how many of the prized 16-34 demographic mentioned in the article above do the same?

The Great British Bake Off tent is welcoming some very special celebrity bakers for five new episodes of The Great Stand Up To Cancer Bake Off for Channel 4. In each episode four celebrities will battle it out over three rounds in a bid to be crowned Star Baker. The celebrities facing the signature, technical and show-stopper challenges are: Musical comedian Tim Minchin, actress, author and Host/Creator of the YouTube channel Hatching Change Teri Hatcher, TV presenter Stacey Solomon, Leader of the Scottish Conservative Party Ruth Davidson, comedian, writer and actress Roisin Conaty, singer songwriter Ricky Wilson, Diversity’s Perri Kiely, TV presenter Nick Hewer, broadcaster Melanie Sykes, actor Martin Kemp, comedian Lee Mack, Paralympic gold medallist Kadeena Cox, comedian Joe Lycett, Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing, comedian Harry Hill, comedian, actor and presenter Griff Rhys Jones, singer Ella Eyre, journalist and presenter Bill Turnbull, comedian Alan Carr and comedian and actor Aisling Bea. Arthur Posted February 11, 2018 Posted February 11, 2018 GBBO star Liam Charles to host Bake Off: The Professionals When Liam Charles was eliminated from The Great British Bake Off last October, his parting words were, “It’s not the end of me, it’s the beginning. I’m coming for Paul Hollywood’s job in a couple of years.” It turns out Liam only needed about four months to nab that job, because he’s just been announced as the presenter of Bake Off: The Professionals for Channel 4. Previously called Bake Off: Crème de la Crème on the BBC, the spin-off show will see 12 professional baking duos complete in heats judged by pastry chefs Cherish Finden and Benoit Blin, who have been with the show since its start in 2016. Comedian Tom Allen will also be hosting The Professionals alongside Liam. Tom has most recently popped up on BBC1’s Wedding Day Winners, The Royal Variety Performance and Strictly’s It Takes Two. Previous hosts of Crème de la Crème were Tom Kerridge in 2016 and Angus Deayton in 2017. Liam said: “I’m totally amazed by the skill of professional chefs and to be doing this so soon after Bake Off, is just sick. I can’t wait to get cracking. I told you I’d be back.” There will be ten episodes of Bake Off: The Professionals and the show will be broadcast on Channel 4 in 2018.
